My wife and I have stayed it the Ritz (there's a newer one in town but we prefer this one) on Arlington Street a number of times and would never consider any other location. The Public Gardens are right out the front door and if you get the Arlington side of the building the Gardens are right out your window. The staff is attentive and the bar is a classic water hole the rooms are spacious. It's not the W in it's appointments but we prefer a traditional hotel. Newbury Street is right there with has great shopping and restaurants, you are where the action is and there is plenty in that neighborhood. The photo is the view from room 906 at the Ritz in November.

Update - In January 2007, the Ritz-Carlton Boston became the Taj Boston. We're sure that there will be some changes as the new management take over, but don't expect the quality to suffer at all. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.

All I can say about this place is "Wow"! A friend stayed here while in town for a conference and I got to stop by. Her room was enormous and very well maintained. The staff in the hotel and outside on the curb were friendly and helpful.

Of course you pay for it all with very expensive rates.

There is a bath menu where you can have someone will come up, deliver themed bath necesseties like a cup of tea, and draw a luxurious bath. Sounds like a real treat.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and had enjoyable experiences both time. Although it is located in the theatre district and has a few seedy areas around it, the hotel itself is rather nice. It's close to public transport and therefore easily accessible to other areas of Boston. The rooms are small and I recommend asking for a corner room when you check in. They're about three times larger than the regular rooms and you'll be more likely to have an actual bathtub. The bar is nice, but the restaurant a little pricey. But what can you expect out of a hotel restaurant? If you find a good deal on a room here than I would advise you to take it. If not, I wouldn't pay more than $115 for two people.

Our hotel room was small but the decore was more interesting/fun than other places we've been. The service was great too. It's located on Tremont , so it's not far from the park and activity. On the first floor are a few interesting and lively clubs. There seem to be lines of people waiting to get into the clubs but they may have just been smokers standing outside. I think our room was only $120.

GREAT location, comfortable bed and nice decor.

The hotel is pricey for what it offers, which is more a reflection of its location rather than its accommodations and amenities. When I stayed there in 2002, there were many problems with the elevators, which caused a lot of frustration since the room was located on a high hotel floor. The staff wasn't particularly responsive either, which is surprising for a Westin Hotel.

Nothing extraordinary. Walking distance to Faneuil Hall and some bars and restaurants. Also, the hotel is connected to Copley Place, an upscale shopping mall.

Very nice - well presented if not a little pricey.
The food was again very good but you can eat out in some very nice restaurants with plenty to eat for a good price.
Found everyone to be helpful and intrested in conversation other than just doing a job.
Not to sure about the US thing on tipping? I like to tip if I feel it is deserved not because they expect it.
Would happily stay there again
