Clarendon Square Inn has spoiled us for the rest

I chose this inn because "Children are allowed provided their parents are well behaved." A sense of humor for an innkeeper is a must. The Inn is beautiful and located on a tree lined street of century old townhouses. To accomodate our family of four, we were given the two garden level rooms which meant that we had the lower level all to ourselves. Victor was our host during our stay and was delightful (despite just having his wisdom teeth extracted and temporary nerve damage to his jaw). Stephen visited with us and made us feel welcome and at home. Both were extremely knowledgeable about Boston and were able to give us excellent suggestions on where to eat and shop. The roof top hot tub was the best...no one else seemed to use it so we sat as a family and enjoyed the lights of the city at night. The location of the inn allowed us to walk to all of our destinations and we felt very safe, even at night. It's the first inn that we've stayed at where the hosts gave us hugs when we left!

Unique Quality: Excellent accomodations; great location; friendly, knowledgeable, hospitable hosts; favorite of international guests; gay friendly; very cool church (African Baptist) located directly across the street; front steps to sit on and pretend you live there.

More about Clarendon Square

A Perfect 10 at Clarendon Square Inn

by TripAdvisor Member Posey123

My new husband and I first stayed at Clarendon Square Inn several years ago. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back for several days on our honeymoon. What a wonderful place! The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and the beds are very comfortable... we stayed in the garden room this time. It had a small fenced patio perfect for blocking the wind while we enjoyed a glass of wine. Stephen, Victor, and Jimmy are friendly and quite accomodating. They pay attention to every detail to make sure everyone's stay is unique and enjoyable. We will definately be back!!

Simply Superb at Clarendon Square Inn

by TripAdvisor Member Rozibud

Elegantly remodeled town house in quiet residential neighborhood. Sophisticated accomodation in great location. Simple serve-yourself breakfast my favorite of our entire vacation. Immaculate, and definitely not for the beer-and-pizza in your room traveler. Peaceful and perfect. Steve and Jimmy great hosts, not overly obtrusive but kind and helpful. This inn is a great find. Top floor room is superb, but only if you can handle lots of stairs. We did not use romantic rooftop spa, but should have.

Clarendon Square Inn - You Can't Miss!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We were lucky enough to stay at the Clarendon Square Inn for one night back in August. If return visits are any indication of how much we enjoyed our stay, we are going back for two nights in October. From the neighborhood, the hospitality, the roof top hot tub, the room comfort and the "feel" of the entire Inn, it was great. As soon as you meet Stephen, you feel at ease and really welcomed. In the morning, the offerings for breakfast were very ample and full of variety. The night we got to the Inn, we were both tired and it was late. At that point all we were looking for was a good recommendation for a glass of wine and simple meal....even Stephen's recommendation here was right on.

If this sounds like a whole-hearted endorsment of the Clarendon Square Inn, I guess it is.

Blue Man Group

by pjpetit

Who knew that bald, mute men painted blue could be so entertaining? This was our son's choice when we visited Boston. If you haven't seen this group, definitely go! We recommend that you sit in the balcony...you'll understand why later. Excellent percussionists using unusual objects (not like STOMP!, though). Their movements are comedic, especially since their faces are so stoic. There is audience participation (not necessarily voluntary) and you are not safe just because you are in the balcony. Very funny and a chance to have your picture taken with the "blue men" after the show. Again, we were able to walk from our B&B (Clarendon Square Inn) during the evening.

Relaxing, luxurious

by A TripAdvisor Member

For our first visit to Boston we were looking for a comfortable guesthouse instead of a large hotel. And we've found an excellent place: Clarendon Square Inn.
The room was great, the breakfast very good and especially general manager Jimmy makes you feel at home and gives you good advice about travelling plans, restaurants and sightseeing.
Clarendon Square Inn is a very luxurious guesthouse with a great atmosphere!

Charming Inn; Great Location

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Clarendon Square Inn was recommended to me by a colleague who travels frequently to Boston. Her glowing review was right on. Our host, Jimmy, was friendly but not intrusive. He was very responsive to our e-mail request regarding availability, most attentive to our needs during our stay and exceptionally helpful in terms of directions and restaurant recommendations.

This is a beautifully restored, multi-level brownstone on a quaint, tree-lined street in a lovely area of Boston. It is within easy walking distance of great restaurants and most anything you'd want to see or do in the city. But don't rule out just spending time at the inn, in the lovely common rooms or relaxing in the roof-top hot tub. The atmosphere at the Clarendon Square Inn is very calm and restful, the decor is sophisticated but comfortable, and all in all, it offers a very charming, convenient and accommodating place to spend a few days in Boston.

Fabulous Clarendon Square

by A TripAdvisor Member

This place is perfect, - brilliant finishing touches, and a really nice feel about it. Stephen and Jimmy go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy Boston, and its surrounding areas. Sitting in the rooftop hot tub at dusk watching the city lights was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Fantastic and flexible

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I were looking for more personal and intimate accomodations for our second trip to Boston. The first time we stayed at the Westin Copley Plaza which was comfortable yet impersonal. This time we chose the Clarendon Square; it was the right choice. We brought our two year old, which suprisingly worked out extremely well. When I first walked in I was a bit worried as the house is meticulously decorated. Other than moving a few breakable items out of reach and keeping a close eye on our toddler, her stay was as comfortable as ours. The staff at the inn, especially Jimmy, were warm, friendly, and had endless advice and suggestions about the Boston area.

The thing we loved most about Clarendon Square was that it felt like we were staying at a friend's beautiful home. We chatted with the hosts and other guests, made use of the kitchen to wash cups, store food for our child, etc. and generally just relaxed.

We'll definitely return for our next trip to Boston.

A real gem!

by TripAdvisor Member JaspersTravels

The Clarendon Inn is a real gem; stylish accommodation; great location & friendly and helpful hosts. My husband & I spent 4 nights at the Inn at the end of October. Breakfast was excellent and we loved the "house guest" feel of taking breakfast with our fellow guests each morning. Jimmy's "cheat sheets" helped us to make the most of our stay in Boston. We would both highly recommend The Clarendon Inn and we look forward to staying there again.
