Boston Marathon cheap accomodations

2 choices - The Constitution Inn in Charlestown (Beautiful location. Charlestown is a Boston neighborhood). Use MS Explorer and check out http://www.constitutioninn.org/index.html

I just checked 2 nights there for the weekend, and it is $130 per night. I stayed there for a few months last year when I returned from overseas and was looking for a condo.

Second choice: contact me with details of your party, I may be able to find a spare room for you. I have 2 friends that just ran the Philadelphia marathon and qualified for Boston. There is about a dozen of us that make it a fun day. Boston has an electric atmosphere an this day. Both the Marathon and an early Sox game shuts down the city, employers give Patriots day off and the fans claim the streets. While you guys are running the marathon, we will be in line at the Boston Beer Works at 7am for our first drinks, then into Fenway to watch the Red Sox game, then spill out onto the race course to cheer you on - after my friends cross the finish line (females) we carry them to a local pub. Good times. Just don't be psycho - we have enough of those in our group. And yes - my friends are *** about eating their nuts and berries and getting a good night sleep prior to the race. jmason @ bostonlabs .com - Jon - Cheers!

Unique Quality: Water view - water taxi to city - great city view - Navy Yard Bistro! - Tavern on the water! - public transportation - free shuttle to North Station subway - Hotel quality is fine. Day's inn quality -

Constitution Inn - Charlestown

The Constitution Inn is located at the Charlestown Navy Yard, near the USS Constitution. It was originally a US military hotel, but now it is open to anyone. Not the greatest hotel in the city, but its the cheapest, most convenient place I have stayed. Rates for non-military are from $120 per night in the winter to $200 per night in the summer (the nearby Residence Inn charges $300-$400 per night!!!). Military rates range from $50-100 per night. It is probably the best hotel deal in the city, as it is only a 10 minute walk to the North End and 15 minutes to Faneuil Hall, all along the Freedom Trail. Bunker Hill Monument is just 5 minutes away and the USS Constitution is a stone's throw away.

It is certainly not the nicest place in town... its painted cinder block walls feel like a military hotel. The hotel has a health club, swimming pool, and laundry machines. There is limited free parking on 3rd St behind the hotel, and there is plenty of metered parking throughout the area. Free internet is available in the lobby.

The hotel has 147 rooms, as well as meeting rooms for maybe 100 people.

Open to the Public as well as Armed Services

The Constitution Inn - Armed Services YMCA

This hotel is right at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Some rooms are reserved for military personnel only, but there are rooms available to the public. Amenities include laundry facilities, free parking, function rooms, a full court gym, heated pool and well equipped fitness center. At $59.00 - $99.00, it sounds like a great deal to me!

Unique Quality: $59.00 - $99.00

Hoe can I get from Logan airport to the Constitution Inn?

Re: transport

by bocmaxima

Taxi would probably be best.
On the subway, you could take the Blue Line into town to Aquarium and then catch the Charlestown ferry. From there, it's a bit of a walk though.
Looks like there is a bus from Haymarket to very close to the hotel, the #93.
