Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel

I've been told that this is the only 5-star hotel at the present time in Boston. Whether this is the case or not, its luxurious lobby, huge grand ballroom, immaculate rooms, and warm atmosphere of the Oak Room are very impressive. Apparently, almost every US President since Taft has stayed here at one time or another.

Opened in 1912, they've recently completed some very obviously expensive renovations. Marble columns and gold leaf or paint in the lobby area are awesome. Down one hallway, you'll find some original tile work on the floor, probably from 1912.

I stayed here one night recently. My room was not along the perimeter of the building, so I didn't have much of a view, but it was very comfortable.

Unique Quality: They even have a resident dog in the lobby that guests can take for a walk.

Other VT reviewers have posted plenty of pics of the hotel's exterior, so mine are all of the inside.

Exceedingly Lousy Service & Food

I took my husband here for his 50th. Booked the special Sports Themed Suite as he is a big Red Sox fan. Previous occupant apparently didn't want to check out, so husband and I got shuffled off to another room with not a word of explanation. Until we complained, Of course!! Then the manager LIED to us about the current guest being "ill." I understand that I am a nobody, but I don't need to be reminded of it, especially by some punk hotel manager, and not when I am paying $550/night for a hotel room. Somebody got "superior" customer service, but it sure wasn't my husband or his very irate wife. Our 2-day holiday trip to Boston was cancelled because we couldn't get another hotel in the area (I refused to stay the second night at the Fairmont). Thanks for nothing, Fairmont Copley. You stink!

simply WOW!!!!

WOW!!! as you walk into the lobby, you are transported in time, to the old hollywood movies full of glamour, not the knid of hotel that somebody would build in 2006... The hotel is from the 1880.

Unique Quality: extremely nice hotel, old fashion luxury. Very big and confortable rooms, all are suites. The bed is the newest thing on the rooms, very confortable.

Beautiful hotel

Only stayed here one night, very plush
The loby is something to see, the ceiling is painted like the sky and there seems like ther e is gold everywhere.

The oak bar is very dark with wood everywhere, they have a lovely grand piano there which is played some afternoons and evenings. Drinks are a little expensive as you would expect. Never ate there so don't know what the food is like

Rooms are massive with a separate corridor down to the bathroom which is marble. The beds are massive you can lie at the edge put your arm across and still not reach the middle.

Unique Quality: Good service
Beautiful loby

I wouldn't recommend compared to other Hotels.

I was a server there for one day, then I just walked out, cuz I was so grossed out at their facility! The kitchen is utterly filthy. I expected roaches. And the Management wasn't oo organized. I would walk by to go to school, and I had a valet sexually harrass me until I told the manager and he got fired. The lobby looks utterly beautiful though. But behind the scenws was nmot cool at alll. The banquet room is too small compared to other facilites I 've seen. Comparte prices if you hope to rent.

Copey Plaza - This large hotel...

Copey Plaza - This large hotel occupies one of Boston's nicest squares. Located near Newbury Street, THE major shopping area of Boston, this complex offers two excellent restaurants: Copley's and the less formal Plaza Bar. Rooms are large and comfortable, staff is most accomodating, ambience is superbe.

Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel

Unique Quality: Founded in 1912, this is a grand place that has been updated fairly well for modern needs while keeping the charm and style of its early 20th century roots.

Elegant decor - paintings, chandaliers

Didn't stay here (can only stay one place at a time), but loved the public spaces. Worth a walk through.

Unique Quality: Opened in 1912. Constructed on the original site of The Museum of Fine Arts, the hotel was designed by Henry Janeway Hardenberghm, who also designed The Plaza in New York. The sister hotels share the same double 'P' insignia seen throughout both properties.

More about Fairmont Copley Plaza

Fairmont Copley...Wonderful!!

by TripAdvisor Member micnadkel

Stayed at the Fairmont Copley this past weekend. Great hotel and location.

Across the street from Copley Place, Prudential, Hynes Center. There is also a Shaws supermarket about 2 blocks away. Pharmacy (CVS) across the street. Boston Public Gardens and Common are a 15-20 minute walk away. Within walking distance to Downtown Crossing (Macy's, Filene's, etc.). Green line (T) right across the street. Newbury St is about 3-4 blocks away...have lunch at Stephanie's.

The hotel is older and charming. Room was in great shape, comfortable bed and large well-stocked bathroom.

Stay at the Copley...you won't be sorry!

What is the building with the red awnings at Copley? If you're looking at Trinity Church, it's on your right.
Thanks for info,

Maybe, but if you rap those gold lions at the front door with your knuckles they sound like fiberglass.
