Cow Parade
by karenincalifornia
This is the closest these city dwellers have ever gotten to a cow.
Throughout Boston during the summer of 2006 is a display of painted cows. Over 100 painted cows are part of a fundraiser. Artists were invited to paint a life sized sculpture of a cow to be displayed all summer long on a sidewalk or a park. A high concentration of these cows is in the Back Bay part of Boston. In October 2006 the cows will be rounded up and auctioned to the highest bidders. Proceeds will go to The Jimmy Fund, a nonprofit organization which supports cancer research and care.
The cows were fun to see, and the artwork was quite impressive. We enjoyed going round a corner and coming across yet another cow to inspect!
Revere Beach
by jessicadf
While driving around, lost and knowing we must be close, and looking for our hotel, we ended up at Revere Beach. Driving along on a cold morning, this was not the place to find bikini babes, frolicking in the surf. Rather, there were a few folks, mostly senior citizens, going for walks along the sea wall. It looked like a great spot to visit in the Summer, with lots of funky shacks selling lobster rolls, ice cream, etc. I'll have to check it out some time when things warm up.

Go to boston harbor, walk around take in the history and all that happened there over 200 years ago. It's a nice walk from Boston tea party ship to The Wharf and the Aquarium.Work your way to Faneuil Hall & Market Place. Loads of places to eat & shop. Just arcoss is The Old state house. this is where they read the Declation of Independece for the first time from it's balcony. The Old North Church is very near by in the North End. After you see it jump on a tour bus to get you to USS Consitution.( I don't Usally do the Tour Buses but these were $10 for on and off all the sites all day)Old Ironside is free to public and the tour is a must. To think what this ship did for this country's freedom and it's history will swell any hard heart.Take in Beacon Hill . It is as it was 200 years ago . Cobble stone roads, gas light post on streets. While there stop in at the Bull & Finch. You know it CHEER's. It was a little hard to find but the local's were a great help in finding it. It was not at all what I had expected , very tiny but there is a nice place to get a bit to eat and of course they have the cheer's gift shop. You are the middle of The best college's in the country each has it's own tour. Well worth the trip .Harvard, MIT, Cambridge to name a few. Walking Beacon Hll at night. Your mind wonder's as you step on the cobble stones wondering what great stateman of the past walked these same roads. very romantic with the gas street lights and 200 year old brownstones.
Hard Rock Cafe
by goingsolo
One of the original restaurants of this chain of rock and roll memorabilia strewn eating establishments. A Hard Rock Cafe is a Hard Rock Cafe anyplace you go; its known for its uniformity. So I wouldn't recommend eating here, unless you really, really take comfort in uninspiring consistency when it comes to food. But its hard not to notice the familiar logo of this place which stands out among the old brick buildings of downtown Boston.
