Not ideal without a car

I stayed in this hotel for a conference and was a little underwhelmed. The rate was $189 for a harbor-view room, which was a very nice view on the last night after the fog lifted. When it is foggy, you can't see a thing. But that's the roll of the dice.

What bothered me about this hotel was the separate pricing for everything. Internet is an additional $10/day. The only on-site option for meals is in the restaurant and all dishes are $15 and up. Public transportation is somewhat inconvenient because you have to ride the shuttle outbound to the airport and then ride inbound again to get to the tourist area. The water taxi is $10 one way, $17 both ways, so you have to be ready for your entire day before you leave for breakfast. As a frequent business traveler, I think it's really remiss not to at least have some kind of more modest offering if you are so removed from the commerce areas. Too tired to go into the city one night, I paid $36 for room service/tip for 5 chicken tenders (no fries included) and a glass of wine.

Another thing I didn't like was that my room had an adjoining door to the next room and that meant I could hear everything the person next door did -- their TV, when they talked on the phone, and they weren't being that loud. I think Hyatt could do better at the price range they are in.

Unique Quality: Knock-out view.
I suspect there are better deals within Boston where it's more convenient.

airport?

Very good hotel, but not exactly "at" the airport. Like too many of these places, its halfway into town!
Good rooms. Great buffet breakfast - real introduction to US (over) eating habits. Best part was the amazing view from the dining room out over the harbour to "mainland" Boston.

Unique Quality: Breakfast!

Nice Hotel with a Beautiful View

This is a great hotel for it's price. The rooms are comfortable, especially the beds with all the pillows they give you. The bathroom has nice towels, lotions and soaps and comes with two soft bathrobes. There is a television in the room with many stations and a lot of pay-per-view options. The only problem I had with this hotel is the fact that you have to be rich to eat here. For example: A tuna sandwich on white bread with chips and a pickle spear $11.99. I think the hamburger was like 17.00 bucks. Also beware the bottle of Aquafina water on the nightstand. If you drink it they will charge five dollars to your credit card. And that's not the worst part. You cannot leave the hotel to eat at a restaurant because you are inside the airport. You are forced to pay 31 dollars a night for parking at their lot, and if you leave to go to Boston, you have to pay this to take your car out, and when you come back to you have to do it again, even if you only leave for 5 minutes. You will also need to pay 3.50 to get to downtown Boston because of the toll. There is no public transportation to and from the hotel.

Unique Quality: The view was beautiful on the Harborside of the hotel. Make sure you ask for the Harborside so that you can see the water and the view of the Boston Skyline. If you get stuck on the other side of the hotel you will have a nice view of cargo containers and fences.

Hyatt Harborside

Hyatt Harborside
$159.00.

Unique Quality: Overlooks the Boston skyline and the waterfront. Adjacent to the downtown water shuttle, the hotel is just 7 minutes from Rowes Wharf (downtown Boston) via water shuttle, and minutes to the financial and entertainment districts and historic areas. This might be a good place to stay if you have an airport layover, or only a day to see the city.

Convenient and Favorable

We stayed at the Hyatt Harborside overnight and found it more than acceptable. It was convenient to the airport and very quiet. The room was clean and spacious and the rate was reasonable (with AAA discount which included a free breakfast buffet).

Think Twice About Staying Here To Visit Downtown Boston

by TripAdvisor Member Continental American

The hotel itself was fine. I was very pleased with my room which was attractive and very spacious and comfortable. I had the airport view, but it looked nice in the snow.

If you need to stay at the airport, this hotel is great. The problem is staying here if the purpose of your visit is tourist or business activity in Boston. Many people are getting this hotel on Priceline in hopes of saving some money in an expensive city, but they do have to consider the inconvenience involved.

It always seemed to take an hour to get from the hotel to the Back Bay area. The metro was quick, but the buses and shuttle often took awhile to come and then they made a time consuming grand tour of all the various airport terminals before dropping me off at the subway station. Perhaps in nice weather this could be more workable, but I was there for five days during a snowstorm and brutally cold weather, and waiting outdoors for buses and shuttles was not fun.

It was also inconvenient not to be able to pop back to my room during the day to drop packages off or freshen up before dinner. Making a second round trip between the aiport hotel and the city seemed like too much of an ordeal.

The hotel is located far out in the cargo area of the airport. There is ZERO of interest in this area. Make sure you have dinner before leaving downtown Boston, or you will have to eat at the hotel's very expensive restaurant which appears to close at about 10 pm besides.

Again, I was perfectly pleased and comfortable with the hotel itself. The shuttle drivers were very pleasant and accommodating. However, consider the inconvenience and if it's worth the savings and wasted time if you choose to stay here for a trip that's focused on central Boston.

Great Location and View

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed here two times on a recent trip to Eastern Canada and New England, a total of nine days. enjoyed them all. Shuttle service for those without a rental car was invaluable. Views of the everchanging waters of the harbor were especially enjoyable. Strand type walkways along side the hotel and harbor were a plus. Staff acted like they were glad to have us there. What's not to like?

lovely views, not as inconvenient as people say

by TripAdvisor Member peterjames2000

Everything people say about the plus (great views), more convenient for logan than many of the other airport hotels. The points about the inconvenience of subway/road links are valid but there is another alternative - a $10 water taxi service right from the hotel to rowe's wharf in the financial district, 5 minutes from faneiul market. enjoyed a fabulous ride in sunshine today (mid feb!). however 1 problem to note with this hotel is that the airport shuttle (like the water taxi) is 'on demand' - you have to call otherwise like me you wait 30 mins at the airport until you realise something is wrong.
