Modest hipness in a central location
I spent one night at the W Boston in April 2010. The room was spacious (a shocking contrast to the W's I have stayed at in NY) and well laid out, although as with W hotels everywhere, lighting could be better. The lobby is mildly hip, although not aggressively so, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Near the elevators, there are touch-screen limited-function computer terminals on which one can supposedly look up directions, print airline boarding passes, and so on. Unfortunately, when I tried to actually use one to print out a boarding pass, the internet connection was so infernally slow that it timed out. I ended up walking over to the concierge for help and she printed my BP for me.
My colleage and I ate breakfast at the W and both the healthy person (me) and the unhealthy person (him) were very satisfied with the offerings ;-)
