Harvard Yard

by rkid21

Do you need to have a tour to get to see Harvard Yard or can you just stroll through it yourself.

Thanks!

You can stroll it yourself - it's open to the public.

Re: Harvard Yard

Greeting traveler. You can do your own tour of Haaavid yaad (lol). However, there are Harvard U students on the weekends that will take you on an informative tour if you wish. Its only a couple of dollars to do that and the groups are kept to a small number of folks. You can pick up the tour guide deal at the Square right where the Red T entrance is. Happy travels

Travel Tips for Cambridge

Harvard University

by zChris

See Havard University, the nation's first institution of higher learning, which is probably the number one attraction in Cambridge. Tour the redbrick buildings and luscious commons of the campus. Most of the tourists go first to Harvard Yard, the historic centre of the university, where there are several 18th century buildings and a statue to John Harvard, the founder. For a more serene and genuine, but no less architecturally interesting Harvard experience, head across the river to the Business School, where quiet courtyards and arched gates greet you at every turn of the path.

Harvard Square...

by Cabana_Boy

Naturally, Harvard Square, is the most famous of all of the squares in Cambridge. At the intersection of Masschusetts Avenue, Mt Auburn Street and JFK Street, this is where all the Harvard kids hang out and shop at the Abercombie & Fitch...Harvard Square also attracts lots of freaks too....there's the ever present hacky sack kids, the constant band of merry minstrels, and lets not forget my beloved Harvard Square Clown...and I guarantee at least two or three protesters....of something.....

Have coffee w/ your game of Chess

by jelw

The game of chess is as much an art form here as it is a sport. Take away the mind numbingly slow pace of the ordinary game and replace it with a tournament of moment, action and speed and you have Chess in the square. The chess celebrities here are as unique as they are brilliant.
This takes place at the tables outside of a chain coffee house. The coffee is necessary to keep your adrenaline pumped to play!

Go rowing on the Charles River

by shohman

Rowing is huge here. Several boat clubs offer lessons. Rowing the Charles gives you amazing views of Boston and Cambridge. Not into rowing? then just walk along the Charles and watch the rowers. It's a wonderful sight. There are several boat clubs in Cambridge and Boston where you can rent and take lessons. Most people I know go to the Cambridge Boat Club

Mary Baker Eddy memorial

by dinhyen

By the shore of Lake Halcyon lake in Mount Auburn cemetery is the memorial to Mary Baker Eddy, founder of the Christian Science church. The white marble monument consists of 8 fluted Corinthian columns holding up a circular ring.
