More about Carriage House Inn
Everything was perfect
I stayed at the Carriage House Inn for 3 nights in July '06. Although the inn is now under new ownership, the service, attention to detail, and warmth of the hosts has not changed a bit. We stayed in Room 2 and could not have been happier. The grounds are beautiful, and we enjoyed just sitting in the garden area with a book and a glass of wine. Breakfasts were delicious, and we appreciated the fully stocked fridge with drinks (and the yummy chocolate chip cookies every afternoon). Paula and Tim were happy to help out with restaurant recommendations or suggestions for sightseeing. The main town is less than 5 mins away by car, but they have bikes for use that were fun to explore the area with. I would recommend the Carriage House Inn without any reservations.
Pick this one
If you are trying to decide where to stay during your cape cod visit, pick this Inn. My husband and I sent 4 nights there in mid-August and were very happy with everything. The location is great, accomodations were lovely, exceptionally clean, and spacious. Breakfasts were wonderful and different each day. But best of all, we felt welcome from the moment we arrived until the minute we departed. Buy a bottle of wine, store it in the frig they provide and use the glass wine glasses they have available. They will help you book dinner reservations and make suggetions based on your tastes without being pushy. Best of all, you can really tell they sincerely care about your comfort. When going to the cape, we would chose no other place!!
We had a lovely ten-night stay with Paula and Tim at Carriage House Inn. Because they were quite fully booked, we moved room twice - which was not a hassle at all to us as our hosts did everything for us! Also it meant we stayed in Room 1, Room 4 and Room 3. All three rooms were individual, utterly charming, well appointed and cosy. Rooms 1 & 3 were in the main building, and we awoke each morning to Tim's wonderful breakfasts wafting up on the air - lovely! Room 4 was in a separate block right next to the house, but with its own front door (with two rocking chairs on the porch for us!), a private garden area, and a gorgeous fireplace.
Did I mention the breakfasts?- well they bear mentioning again, and are the reason my clothes don't fit any more! There was a fridge filled with water and sodas for guests to help themelves - a really nice touch as we drink a lot of water. There were also stickers with room numbers on, so guests could store wine or snacks in the fridge too and mark that they were theirs. I liked that. Wine glasses and ice were to hand, as was a good DVD library (each room has a DVD player). Each room also had a bag of beach towels in case the weather was clement, and there were also bicycles and fold-up chairs in the shed for guests to use if they wished. All too energetic for us - we concentrated on visiting the nearby restaurants that Paula booked us into (I'm glad she was keen to book for us - most places were fully booked each evening).
Nothing was too much trouble to our hosts, the inn was charming and we hope to be able to visit again soon. Highly recommended.
"Deserves its #1 Popularity Rating!"
Expectations high, we planned for many months our autumn getaway and stay at the Carriage House Inn, based on reviews on TripAdvisor. We are pleased to report ,after a 4-night stay, our expectations were surpassed and we are already planning our return!
The Inn is a beautiful property, perfectly maintained. Hosts Paula and Tim know their stuff. They were warm, generous with suggestions, help, advice, dinner reservations, etc. The weather was cool enough for fires in our fireplace at night, and it was lovely to start the day with Tim's delicious breakfasts. An abundance of entertainment possibilities--DVDs, games, brochures for day trips, books--were in the comfortable living room. Snacks, water bottles in the fridge, soft music in the background, beach towels and chairs--everything anticipated for your comfort awaits you.
Easy to understand the #1 Popularity rating for the Carriage House Inn. But one thing worries us: it is so very, very good.....what if we can't get a reservation when we want to return?! --Mary and Jim, Florida.
Great place, wonderful owners
Booked 3 nights based on reviews on this site. Paula and Tim had just bought the inn. They didn't miss a beat. Everything from the very clean room, to the great breakfasts and warm hospitality was A+.
Great location, lovely rooms
My husband and I are in our late 20s, early 30s and were nervous about staying in a bed and breakfast. We relied on tripadvisor's wonderful reviews for the Inn, but arrived only to learn the inn was under new ownership. The new owners were very nice and helpful. As they were new to the area, they hadn't been to all of the restaurants so their opinions could only go so far, but we could tell they were doing their best to make rounds and I'm sure with time they will know more. The innkeepers were very nice, a little talkative (but not unbearably so), but maybe that's just us. They provided breakfast which Tim was creative with since he had some cooking background. It was a little too creative for me at times but for those who like fancy breakfasts, it would be perfect. They also provided free drinks to go, and free cookies and snacks. The location was terrific - we could ride bikes to downtown, the beach, Chatham Bars Inn for drinks on the water, etc. The inn itself was also lovely. We stayed in the main house, one of the less expensive rooms, but it was very roomy, cute and clean. They mentioned redoing part of the room but we didn't think it needed any re-doing. We used their DVD library to watch a movie in our room one night (they mentioned getting flatscreens for all of the rooms, perhaps they have by now) which was a nice change of pace. All in all, they were very attentive to detail in all respects, including cleanliness, and it was a great place to stay. The innkeepers were very enthusiastic and tried to be as helpful as possible.
We Love This Place!
We just stayed at the Carriage House Inn in February for the second time. We had stayed there last August and loved it! The innkeppers, Tim and Paula, were great, very friendly and knowledgeable about Chatham and the Cape.
We stayed in a recently renovated room in the main house. We loved it, beautiful decor and flat screen tv, very comfortable bed and great pillows. The rest of the Inn was really nice as well, beautiful dining room, sun porch and living room. Tim cooked up a fabulous gourmet breakfast each morrning. The savory eggs can't be beat. We were pleasantly suprised by all the wonderful amenities (interent access, newspaper, complimentary soda, water and snacks all day, and cider and cookies in the afternoon).
The Inn's close proximity to Chatham Light Beach and downtown Chatham made our stay even better. We highly recommend the Carriage House Inn for anyone looking for a relaxing and high quality getaway.
We stayed in four B & B's in four different states on our first visit to New England, all were above average but our three nights at The Carriage House excelled. Paula and Tim are perfect hosts, welcoming, warm and friendly, their knowledge of the area, recommendation, help and even booking of both great restaurants and day trips is invaluable. The attention to detail from the beautiful decor, the fabulous gormet breakfasts, free drinks, fruit, snacks and afternoon munchies, to the impeccable housekeeping and extensive up to date DVD library, make the Inn worthy of its No 1 rating. We can't recommend Paula, Tim and the Carriage House highly enough! - they made our holiday special. - Sue & Mike, Solihull, England.
Can't wait to return!
If I had to pick the perfect B and B, The Carriage House would be it!
After looking at several places via the internet, I contacted The Carriage House to make a reservation. I received a friendly and prompt response, made the choice of rooms and awaited the approaching vacation.
Upon our arrival at the B and B, we were greated by Tim and shown all the "goodies" this Inn has. Not only is the property charming with a great location in Chatham but everything you could want at an Inn is there.
The cozy living area has a wonderful fireplace, games to use, DVD's to watch in your room, and all the latest reading material, including a notebook full of local restaurant menus and reviews. (they happily made resevations for us which got us the choicest tables!)
Around the corner is a PC for your use, a frig filled with bottled water, cans of pop, fresh cookies, fruit and warm mulled cider.
The rooms are beautifully done with blow dryers, shampoo, lotion, q-tips and cotton balls - all the things I use everyday! The shower was wonderful-lots of pressure and never ran out of hot water and the bed was heavenly - especially after walking and exploring Chatham!
Breakfast - another wonderful story. Choice of juice, fresh fruit with some wonderful raspberry lemon curd or homemade ginger syrup on it and the main course left us wishing we had more room. Coffee and a selection of teas were ready before hand besides being available in your room.
To say we hated to leave, after our 3 day visit, is an understatement. The Carriage House hosts Tim and Paula have the art of running a B and B absolutely perfect. They get an A+++ in our book.
We will be back!
some places have a few nice ideas and a few comforts but this has them all. very well done in every regard; clean, comfortable, welcoming, and delicious. i highly recommend carriage house.
