A well-maintained motel
We chanced upon Marriott's Residence Inn in Dedham because our usual choice of a Boston hotel/motel was unavailable. A heated indoor pool is for us almost a necessity, as we need exercise after a long trip. Everything (yes, everything) about this motel was fine! The staff succeeds in providing comfort and cleanliness, and when we each met the manager in the halls, we thanked her and the staff. The rooms are well-appointed: a sitting room with kitchen and a bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed. There was nothing out of repair. The following morning, we enjoyed a superb buffet breakfast, included in the $104 overnight AAA price. The pool was of good size, with more than adequate hours, an easy stairway with handrail. Adjacent was an exercise room.
The motel is close to Interchange 15 of Mass. 128 (I-95), but this is not a full interchange. On U.S. 1, just north of the I-95 overpass is a traffic signal at a cinema. Elm Street is the cross street, to the east at the cinema. Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn are a quarter-mile east on Elm Street. Holiday Inn is on the southbound side of U.S. 1 at the same traffic signal. I mention all this because I-95 has no northbound exit here, and one may have to loop around to get to the correct signal. U.S. 1 is also known as Boston-Providence Avenue.
The motel is worth the zig-zag getting to it.
The Dedham business district and drab shopping malls are about a mile north of the motel on U.S. 1. High Street westbound and Court Street have beautiful buildings and lawns.
