There are undoubtedly more characterful accommodations in and around Northampton, but it can be hard to beat the big chains on price (unless you are the kind of person who enjoys spending a lot of time in your hotel room), and this is a great option for exploring both Amherst and Northampton, since it's between the two. For two people, it's decent value, and if you squeeze four people in it becomes an outstanding option. The breakfast is what you'd expect: a generic selection of yogurts, cereals and thin juices, but they did have a waffle maker, which proved to be very popular indeed. They also have a (very) small gym and a small pool.
Unique Quality: One nice thing about the location is that it is right next to the bike/running trail that links Northampton and Amherst: it's less than a minute from room to trail, and it's an extremely nice place to go for a run or a bike ride.
Directions: Right on Rt 9, halfway between Northampton and Amherst.
