A Dorm with a View
Formerly the Double Tree, the hotel was purchased by the University of Massachusetts in 2009 and is now called the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center. These days, rather than functioning as a traditional hotel, the property mostly houses university students while also offering conference space to groups visiting the city along with a limited number of guest rooms.

Stay in the Heart of Lowell's Canals
Warm cookies at check-in - need I say more? Okay, you probably want more than that. While I'd rather stay in a unique, small hotel, the Doubletree Hotel Lowell was really great as far as chains go. This hotel is located right down on the canals, close to the river, the shops, the historical sections and the UMass-Lowell campus. I wish it would have been a little closer to the ballpark because my walk back in the dark was really scary. But if you're going to stay in Lowell, I think this is the place to hang your hat.
Unique Quality: I'll say it again - warm cookies at check-in.
