My day trip to Nantucket from Cape Cod
"Day in Nantucket"
On a recent trip to the East Coast, I spent 4 days in Boston and 4 days on the cape. On one of the days on the cape, I took a ferry to the island of Nantucket. The island has a rich history and you feel it the moment you enter its' bay. The story-book village has buildings and houses that date back to the late 1600's and the island takes great pride in their architecture, the simple new england style cottages with their grey weathered cedar shingles. I was memerized by the stories of the whalers, especially the tragic story of the whaleship Essex - which inspired the book Moby Dick. I read a book called "In The Heart of The Sea" wriiten by Nathaniel Philbrick. I highly recommend this true-story of survival, courage and community.
