The Days' Cottages have been around forever, at least since the 40's. Photos of them have been featured in many magazines about New England and they are beautiful all lined up in a row. Each cottage is named after a different flower and has its own private beach.
The cottages are all identical inside and each has a fireplace, two bedrooms, a small kitchen, bathroom with shower, and a living room with a a futon that pulls out into a double bed. And the best thing? No televisions or phones! They do have heat though, as the nights can get chilly sometimes.
I wish you could see some of the HUGE homemade meals we have made over the years in the tiny kitchen with the miniature stove! Good stuff!
There are few places left like this left on the Cape. Days' Cottages are still owned by the Days family, the second generation of the family to run them. The cottages are rented out by the week only and reservations are taken on a first-come-first-served basis. Guests from previous years have first dibs on the reservations for the future. Many people, like our friends, come here the same week year after year.
Interestingly, one of our friends who rents here every year has a father who went to Boston College with Joe Day, the owner, and has been coming here every year since he was born. It's that kind of place.
