Finest Hotel in Town
by atufft
I didn't stay, being as I was just passing through Northampton for the day, but I was able to wander around and check the place out. This is the hotel to stay at for a variety of reasons: location, history, and service. See the website for more information. I think good room bargains should be available given the size and location of this hotel.

Travel Tips for Northampton
Western Massachusetts is...
by hajin
Western Massachusetts is beautiful when the leaves start to change color. The last visit, my friends and I went hiking up at Skinner State Park. We did a short, but steep hike to the top of Mount Holyoke (for all my Smith friends...hahaha, I know) and got a great view of Northampton and the foliage.

noho is big on progressive mindedness. the people there are cool, hip, considerate, intelligent and artsy! Northampton was named the biggest little art town in america, and for good reason. you have to check out all the art studios and stores on main street.
The Erie House
by YankeeGal
This once grand hotel burned to the ground when a man tried to burn the carcass of his horse. They rebuilt, but, it was never the same. It's a grand place to clamber over stones, poke through gothic arches, and, if you're lucky, watch hawks, turkey vultures, falcons and bald eagles riding the winds that rush up the mountain.

Northampton- "Noho," "Hamp," or "N'ton"- is a gem pressed into the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. This place is adorible and spooky- a nice combination.
My family is three generations deep 'round these parts. It is wonderful to have such sturdy roots in such a beautiful place.

Relaxing Massage and Dinner in Northampton
by selva_oscura
Northampton is amazing. It is a cultural and intellectual hub. The restaurants are fantastic and the nightlife is fun and relaxed. Northampton has the highest population of massage therapists in new england, it seems. Whenever i visit i always get dinner and a massage. It's a night that cant be beat! I reccomend that you check out Massage Empire at 269 Main street and then have dinner at La Cazuela at 271 Main street. Its the best combination. You can get an hour long swedish massage and then a fine meal with the best margarita's in the country.
