I like Homestead-Peabody!!
The North Shore and Cape Ann aren't really changing with the times when it comes to the needs of many business and family travelers. Sure, tourist attractions like Salem's witches and Gloucester's oceanfront are great, but lately more travelers are yearning for a bit extra. The 19th Century B&Bs are quaint and charming indeed, yet they come up short on things like indoor pools, full-size kitchens and wireless internet. That's where Homestead-Peabody bridges the gap. It has no scenery because it's hidden in the woods behind an industrial park off Route 128. Once you find this secluded little gem, though, you'll be pleased at what it does offer!
Unique Quality: Homestead-Peabody feels more like an upscale apartment complex than a hotel. Although no minimum stay is required, this location has many guests who have literally lived in the same hotel room for years. It's conceivable to stay long-term because every room has a full kitchen, not just a kitchenette like most places offer, complete with dishwasher. Having so few transient customers seems to create a lighter workload, because the staff is perpetually upbeat and cheerful. The only complaint might be that they take so much pride in their jobs that they seem to be everywhere at once, and not typically found behind the Front Desk. For example, it's a common sight to find a desk clerk helping out with the laundry after business hours, or stocking the on-your-honor pantry (the same type you see at Candlewood or MainStay Suites). Kids will love the indoor heated pool, and anyone with a laptop will appreciate the hi-speed wireless internet. Although the rooms have kitchens, Continental breakfast is offered in addition.
