Sweet B & B in Salem, Mass, USA

We were 2 couples from the Northwest who incorporated a road trip out of the Boston area after spending 5 days in Boston. We loved the Northey Street B & B. We stayed in a very clean, nicely appointed one bedroom suite that could have slept 5 people. The bed and futon were equally comfortable and the sheets were wonderful! Off street parking was great! We enjoyed a lovely breakfast with the propriotress Flora, several other guests, and the family dog Charlie. The breakfast was nutritious and beautifully presented. The location was perfectly safe and very convient to all of the attractions. We took a late night stroll to the waterfront and enjoyed a great coffee shop recommended by Flora. Her attention to detail made for a very comfortable stay. We would be priveledged to stay with her on future visits.

Unique Quality: The safe neighborhood and off-street parking made this a great value!

A fine Salem, Ma. B&B

Comfortable, clean and friendly. Convenient to Salem's attractions. A full breakfast is served. We enjoyed meeting Charlie, the family beagle. We were very pleased with our stay. We'd happily return.

Northey St B&B Garden

Here is a picture of the garden that you could spend some time in while staying at Northey Street House. There were benches to sit on and lots of nice privacy! Nice flowers to.

More about Northey Street House Bed and Breakfast

Our best B&B stay ever!

by TripAdvisor Member Specman

From the moment we arrived at the Northey Street B&B we were captivated by the comfort and beauty of this home. Flora has taken great pains to ensure that each room is well appointed and pleasing to the eye. It was so nice to be in a historical setting and yet have all the comforts of a modern home.

Our room was extremely clean and comfortable. The colors used in the paint and decorations put one immediatly at ease and we looked forward to returning to our room at the end of each day after sightseeing. Our room had a generously sized bathroom with all the modern conveniences. The beds were comfortable, and we slept well each night.

We enjoyed our breakfasts, especially the selection of yogurt and fresh fruits, pastries (some homemade) and some local favorites such as a blueberry-apple crisp that was delicious. Snacks and drinks were onhand for any time of day as well.

Our son was very fond of Charlie the beagle, and was sad when we had to leave. Indeed we felt very much welcome and will remember our stay here as the highlight of our entire trip to New England. The location is within walking distance of most of the major attractions in town, and ample parking was provided.

Flora, once again thank you very much for a great stay! Don't change a thing!

Best B&B

by TripAdvisor Member Helbo

Excellent B&B.

The room was big, clean and quiet. The bed was the comfiest I've stayed in...the room had its own bathroom, a tv, ac, and a sofa which could be turned into a bed.

The breakfast was fruit, yoghurt, pastries, toast, eggs (to order, if you wanted them) fruit juice, tea, coffee and any other little snacks the hostess had rustled up.

Also, the kitchen was always open and stocked with tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks.

Since the B&B only had 3 rooms its all very cosy and there is private parking (no charge). Plus everything in salem is only a 5 minute walk away.

would definately stay here again

Made us feel at home.

When we arrived at the northley house, we got a kind welcome. This B&B was gorgeous, breakfast in the morning was excellent. The hospitality was perfect.
The room in which we stayed was unlike others we had seen in our 3 month travel of america.it really made our stay even more enjoyable.if you choose to go to salem MA, then choose to stay in the Northley Street House B&B.we didn't get the same kindness anywhere else!
We will seriously consider this B&B if we ever return to Salem.

Flora and Charlie make you feel like family

by TripAdvisor Member CanadaWitch

My daughter (aged 14) and I stayed at the Northey Street House B & B for 6 days in August 2006. We had a fabulous time. The house is located within 10 minutes walk of all the Salem museums and sites/shopping. Flora is a wonderful hostess and she made us feel immediately at home and like part of the family. The minute we walked in she provided us with helpful tourist info and pamphlets. There was a yummy breakie each morning with fruit, yogourt, pastries, toast, fruit juice, tea, and coffee. The kitchen was always open and stocked with tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks. Charlie, Flora's wonderful pet Beagle became my daughter's best friend. There are a great selection of movies in the living room that guests are welcomed to borrow and each room has a TV and VCR/DVD player. The room was big, clean and quiet and had its own bathroom with big fluffy towels & makeup table, a queen sized best and futon bed as well.

The house is very cozy and cute plus there is private parking (no charge).

We intend to return and will most definitely stay here again!

There is no doubt Floa goes above and beyond for her guests.

Perfect B&B in Salem

by TripAdvisor Member KristinNY

My fiance and I went for a quick weekend getaway to Salem, and chose the Northey Street House B&B after seeing all of the great reviews here.
We had never stayed at a B&B before, so we weren't quite sure if we would like that type of accommodation, but we were very pleasantly surprised, and so happy we chose Northey Street House! We stayed in a brand new room (added in April I believe Flora said) and it was so adorable! I loved the wood floors and decor of the room, and it was VERY clean. The room was very bright and airy, but if you like to sleep in later than 8am, I would probably request one of the other rooms- my fiance and I like to sleep in, but we were unable to since the sun was blaring into the room every morning by 7am.
Flora was so nice, and very accommodating- she even offered us an extra umbrella and rain jacket since it was raining upon our arrival.
We aren't big breakfast eaters, but the breakfast selection was great.

The B&B was just a short walk right into the heart of Salem, which was great since it wasn't always easy to find a parking spot in town.
We definitely recommend the Northey Street House, and will most likely be back if we choose to visit Salem again.
