Stroll down Front Street (see photo)and visit The Front Street Book Store (not in photo). The Welch Company is an old-fashion department store, independently owned. A bit too frou-frou for my tastes, but worth a visit.

Scituate

by cwillcutt

Scituate isn't exactly the most exciting place to visit. The harbor is quaint, and there is a farming/Irish mossing museum, as well as a cute water tower, but other than that, there isn't much to see.

Lawson Tower

by Zmrzlina

A brief outline and I'll be back...

Thomas Lawson, The Copper King, live in Scituate at the turn of the 20th century....his estate, Dreamwold, looks out onto a water tower...his wife finds the tower ugly...Lawson hire architects to scour Europe for the perfect camouflage...the completed design is model on a 15th century Roman tower and is often said to be "the most expensive water tower in the country."

Ahh....true love knows no price, eh? :-)
