Historic Accomodations
The 1771 Publick House building has been expanded in a variety of ways, and other out-buildings have been added on the property for additional lodging. The restaurant is very good. Across the street from the hotel is the Sturbridge Commons, a parkland area surrounded by a neighborhood of homes, that also features summer concerts and theatrical productions. The unique quality of this place though is the original huge timber construction.
We ate dinner, and didn't actually stay at the hotel, but I noticed that special events, such as weddings, were a featured activity at the hotel. The hotel website has a virtual tour of the old hotel and provides access to discounts even during summer.
