Red Roof Ann Arbor University North

This is a inexpensive, but very serviceable hotel. The rooms are clean and new, although very generic. I stayed there in the dead of winter and the in room heating system worked great (and it gets cold in Michigan in the winter). The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a Big Boy Restaurant attached to the hotel - which is a chain restaurant that evolved out from an old fashioned greasy spoon style diner. I recommend the Big Boy burger, a chocolate milk shake, and a slice of strawberry pie. Not bad. And the diner stays open till 1:00 am. This hotel is located a few miles from downtown Ann Arbor and is isolated if you are on foot . But it is located right next to a major highway (Route 14/23), so it is easy to use as a base of operation if you got a vehicle. I would stay here on my next trip to Ann Arbor.... if I am trying to do it on the cheap.
