Peagusaus has to be my favorite. I love Greek food. The buffet in the Motor City Casino is also good At the Greek place my favorite thig is the Cold antispato platter and grilled lamb chops. At the casino, the crab legs are always good along with their cheesecakes.

You have the choice of 4 casinos in the area. Detroit has the Greektown Casino, The MGM Grand Casino, and The Motor City Casino. You can get to the Windsor Casino in about 10 minutes by going through the tunnel.
Motor City Casino
by truesunn about Motor City Casino
Motor City has an classic vehicle theme to it, and is much more upscale than Greektown but a step down from our Detroit MGM Grand. Plenty of room for gamblers to move around. The payouts are pretty good and the dealers I met were very personable.
One thing you may not know about the Casino's in Detroit: No complementary alcoholic beverages. They must be purchased, unlike Vegas where you just have to tip the cocktail waitress. I think dress slacks and a collared shirt for men and maybe dress slacks or a skirt for women is fine. I wouldn't wear jeans here.
FREE TRANSPORTATION FROM SUBURBS TO CASINO
by dtownkitty
Blue Lakes Charters and Tours offers transportation from many of the Detroit Suburbs to the Motor City Casino in Detroit. For $15.00 you get round trip transportation and a $15.00 credit for gambling. So essentially it is FREE. And you may get lucky. See their website for pick up locations and times.
Casino Gambling
by mdchachi
Just in the past few years, Detroit has sprouted a major casino presence. Michigan now sports more casino gambling than anywhere in the U.S. except Nevada. There are three Casino's in Detroit -- Greektown Casino, Motor City Casino and MGM Grand. These are 'temporary' facilities until they get around to building bigger and better structures. Currently the Greektown Casino is the only one within reach of the People Mover and it's next to Greektown so that's the one I recommend. After all, all casinos are pretty much the same, right? Actually I wouldn't know because this is the only casino I've ever been to, anywhere.
Elsewhere in Michigan (but not near to Detroit) there are American Indian casinos as well. Close to Detroit there is horse racing & betting at Hazel Park Raceway and Northville Downs.

DTW Airport
by brittneydeanna
Does anyone know if there are payphones in DTW and what the rates are?? I'd be calling to someone who lives in California. Anyone know if its more a minute for long distance calls? I'd really appreciate the help!

I'm sure there is a pay phone somewhere in the airport, but so few people use them nowadays that I don't know what the rate would be and maybe others would not also.
Here is an idea for you. If you aren't uncomfortable with talking to strangers you could always ask someone to borrow their cell phone for a minute or two and tell that why you are making a call. I would have no problem having someone asking me to do this. I had to do this one time myself to make a call and my cell phone battery had run out.

I can tell you that there are pay phones at Detroit Airport. Local calls are .50 cents, but I cannot tell you what the rate is for long distance calls.

Thank you for the help! Anyone else know the long distance rates for the dtw payphones or what the rate was for another long distance payphone was? I know they're not all going to cost the same but I would like an idea of how much long distance is.

Hi Brittney - I'm not sure what terminal you are flying into, but McNamara does have pay phones in the baggage claim area. I don't know if they have them in other areas, but I have noticed them there. I do agree with Rich though -- I'm not sure the nature or duration of the call you need to make, but if you ask someone (maybe someone you sit next to on the plane?)they would more than likely let you use their cell phone.
Good luck!

Yeah, I only want to call my b.f for a minute or two just to tell him I arrived at the airport and ask him a couple questions. Maybe i'll just ask someone to use their cell phone, as long as it doesnt cost them for long distance calls. I'm pretty shy though so I guess i'll just make sure I have like 10 dollars in coins if I need em!

It's interesting that you say you are shy. Many years ago I also considered myself on the shy side and really had a hard time asking a girl out for a date. Then after my freshman year in college I got contact lenses (which I gave up years ago) which really boosted my self confidence a lot. Best advice I could give would be to talk to your airplane seat mate if possible and then ask them, or if you are waiting for your luggage you could always pick out a friendly face and ask them. I think females are easier to ask then a male. Most cell phone plans nowadays don't have any extra charges for long distance calls.

Yeah I thought by 20 I would have grown out of it, but I'm sure I will eventually. Maybe i'll ask the person I'm sitting next to at the gate. =]

Watched Dancing with the Stars last night following my hometown's Olympic Hero, Evan Lysacek. He mentioned that he is still shy and trying to become less so. Olympic Champion and Dancing on national TV gives a new meaning to shy. Good luck.
