If your into history, you MUST go to Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI.If your into architecture, the Penobscot building, downtown Detroit, is really cool.
If you want to see some really cool old buildings, that unfortunately haven't been kept up, take a drive up and down the sidestreets between I-94 and I-75 between Woodward ave. and 2 or three blocks East of John R. Make sure you have your doors locked and don't stop for anyone though. NO STOPPING TO TAKE PHOTOS - this is a dangerous but beautiful neighborhood. Huge turn of the century mansions and apartments made of stone with lots of decoration. Another couple areas to see beautiful old mansions are the Boston-Edison district and Indian Village.
