Grand Haven - Family Reunion
by AmazingAdventures
We had a 60+ peson family reunion here in 1997, had a great time!
My grandfather used to own a vacation lodge at Spring Lake and our family used to go there for weekend get togethers. Good memories.
marca's new Grand Haven Page

I visited Grand Haven during a business trip to Fremont. It was cold, snowing and getting dark so I did not see all that much. There is a nice park by the Lake beach and the downtown area seams nice. I need to come back again in the summer months...especially since I read that Grand Haven made the Chicago Tribune's list of favorite Mid-west places.
Rosy Mound Walk (The Blowout)
by Toughluck
"Natures Solitude"
It can take decades for a dune to grow to the height of Rosy Mound. It stands upwards of 100' (30 m) above Lake Michigan). Then a small tear occurs in the fabric of life that has grown over the sand. A tree falls in the wind, ripping the soil with it's roots! A rabbits undermines a clump of grass, which overturns in the wind! or the waves undercut the grasses and trees faster than the can stablize the edge!.
A 'Blow out' begins in these simple ways.
"Trail Map"
"Explanations"
Once the wind gets a hold of the sand, it quickly sours a trench inland. Sand blasts all living things, shredding their ability to survive. More sand is exposed and more sand blows inland, cutting deeper and wider, until there is a great gap in the dunes along the lake. Here at Rosy Mound, the gap is upwards of a mile (1.6 km) wide and a half miles (0.8 km) deep.
