Fondest Memory? My birth. (just kidding). Fondest memories are those involving the seasons...sledding/skiing and fireplace fires in the winter, colors of the tree foliage and the crispness of the air in the fall, flowers/new growth and 'after the rain' smell of spring, and time spent on the beaches of Lake Michigan and other inland lake/forest areas - hiking, biking, swimming, partying or enjoying a campfire watching the stars.
Don't miss the Frederick Meijer Gardens.
It has one of the only two giant bronze statues of Michelangelo's Horse in the world. The other is in Italy. The arboretum is beautiful, as are the trails around the grounds, with many sculptures throughout.
This is it - Grand Rapids - my home. Great place to raise a family - very safe and secure region with good schools.
Not a hotbead of excitement though. However, in the last 20 years, this town has really grown and added things to do. Better museums, restaurants, minor league sports, and other cultural venues to name a few.
