Scenic, comfy, quiet

Great bed and pillows, spacious room, great breakfast choices, friendly staff. There is a great view of a pond, complete with swans, ducks, egrets, and other birds, from either side of the hotel. The only flaw, is that it is a bit hidden. You have to drive through the shopping area to get to it, but it's worth it. Great price.

Unique Quality: Great view. Easy walking distance to Target, Aldi, Costo and other stores and restaurants. With kids in tow, we always need to pick up something at a store.

Travel Tips for Grand Rapids

GVSU II

GVSU expanded into the city of Grand Rapids in approximately 1987 with the opening of the LV Eberhard Center. The University's presence in Grand Rapids was expanded further in 2000 with the opening of the Pew Campus shown in the previous tip.

When in Michigan, if someone offers to give you a "pop" they are not threatening you but rather offering to serve you a refreshment. "Pop" is what we call soda (or Coke if you're from the south.) People from other areas of the country make sure to correct you if you refer to soda as "pop."

"Short Visit to Grand Rapids"

After attending the Tulip Festival in nearby Holland, Michigan, we spent 2 days in Grand Rapids to see a few things in that interesting city. From the Gillett Bridge in front of the Gerald Ford Museum you can see a main-made rapid in the river. Are there really "grand" rapids here? No one in the museum knew. In the early days settlers here crossed the river in boats or on the ice in the winter. By 1850 there were covered toll bridges. The railroad required more bridges in 1858. The Gillett Bridge is now a pedestrian bridge.
