Travel Tips for Harbor Springs

Fudgies

by Carliegirl

None of the locals ever buy fudge except to send away to people who live other places. It is taboo for any local to be caught with the stuff. The name for a tourist in this town is "Fudgie." So like it or not you'll be called by that name. Probly not to your face but you'll be called it none the less. Realize that locals really dislike demanding and pushy people. This is an easy going, hardworking town that gets too many visitors who feel they own the place. Don't be rude to locals. It won't get you far. You may also see the occasional "If its tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?" bumper sticker. Don't take it personally. Its all meant in good humor.
