Ironwood Municipal-Memorial Building
Conceived as a memorial to area soldiers who served during World War I, the Municipal-Memorial building reveals some of Ironwood's pride while it was enjoying its heydey of prosperity. Half a million dollars to construct the building was raised entirely through local donations, and architects from Minneapolis were called upon for the design. Terracotta and polished stone were used on the exterior, and inside the building is decorated with marble, plaster, and decorative murals. Inside there are not only municipal offices, but also a public pool as well as an auditorium and a gymnasium.
