The Landmark Inn is not only a beautiful hotel, but has friendly service, and great dining options too! You can't miss the North Star Lounge on the 6th floor for the best view, and excellent cocktails-as well as the ability to order from both restaurant menus. The rooms and bathrooms are large, and comfortable. It is by no means inexpensive, but you should treat yourself to this hotel experience when up in Marquette-it is worth it!
Making reservations was very easy, hotel provides inexpensive shuttle to/from the airport (on the day of my arrival, I was the only passenger and they didn't mind sending a driver who gave a great tour, too), wonderful rooms -- really decorated with beautiful quilts and old-fashioned furniture, my room was huge -- bathroom was huge, too; many famous people stayed there, the food is good... Well, you get the idea -- best place to stay in Michigan even though it's slightly more expensive.

The Landmark Inn is a classic, renovated 1930s hotel which is located in downtown Marquette. This historic hotel is a three block walk to the shore of Lake Superior, so you will find views of the lake from some areas of the hotel. People staying at the hotel will find such extras as a sauna, whirlpools, and exercise room. Although I have not seen the rooms themselves, I have been told that they are uniquely and individually decorated. For extra luxury, there are even jacuzzi suites with fireplaces and views of Lake Superior available, as well as large two rooms, two bath suites. The Landmark also has two restaurants and two lounges. For more information, check out their website. It is very complete, including photos of rooms, and menus from their restaurants.
Unique Quality: A number of famous people, from Louis Armstrong to The Rolling Stones have stayed at the Landmark Inn. Although the outside is quite plain, the inside, which was inspired by European styles, is much more elegant.
Unique Quality: An older building which has been very carefully restored, the lobby is especially nice. Each of the approximately sixty rooms is individually decorated. Ask for a lake view. The Northland Pub on the ground floor and the top floor 'Sky Lounge' are among the best places in Marquette for people watching.
