Rose Hill Inn

by written on October 4, 2002

About $125 - $140 USD per night.

Unique Quality: The Rose Hill Inn is one of the historical Victorian homes turned bed and breakfast inns and located about one mile from the town's main square. It was originally the home of a wealthy farmer and later the home of the man who founded the Boy Scouts. The current owners were in the antique business for about 25 years and they have lovingly filled this home with period antiques including those in the Violet room where I slept (see photo). In addition to the beautifully furnished home, the grounds include a tennis court, swimming pool, gardens and a new gazebo for weddings that often take place here. In the morning, guests are treated to a gourmet breakfast in the formal dining room that features local recipees. Those who spend a lazy afternoon in the swing on the verandah will probably have company from their resident cat who weighs about 25 pounds. This house makes a perfect weekend escape from the city or a romantic getaway.
