Designated Camping Areas: Take only memories, leave only footprints
Fresh water is very important while back country hiking. Running water is safer to drink, and it provides a pleasing background for you to sleep.
All camping spots are designated by the park to minimize the destructiveness of humans. Make sure that you follow the back packer's code: Take only memories, leave only footprints. Take your trash with you.

We have always lived on our boat when in Munising, so I do not have any first hand knowledge of any of these accommodations. There are a variety of family owned motels available in Munising as well as a few chains such as a Best Western (906-387-4864), Comfort Inn (906-387-5292), and a Super-8. For a list of accommodations with addresses and phone numbers visit www.munising.com/resources/algerresorts.html
