Port Huron
"Home Sweet Home"
There is not much to be said about Port Huron as a travel destination, but it's my home town and a place that carries many fond memories. Like most of the small towns and cities on the east side of Michigan this is (or was) an auto industry town that was built up to supply the many factories in the area with parts and supplies. Things haven't exactly been wonderful for US car manufacturers and the town has been forced to change to attempt to stay relevant at a time when people are leaving the Midwest by the thousands.
"Some of the Highlights......"
If you ever happen to be here there are of course some fun things to take advantage of before you leave. The number one thing being Lake Huron. All of the lighthouses, historical ships, and beaches are available for touring or sunbathing at minimal cost and can provide some interesting knowledge of history of the shipping industry in Lake Huron. Take a second to watch a few of the 1,000 foot lake freighters float by on the St. Clair River or rent a cottage up the coast for a fair price and spend a weekend relaxing in the sun.
