Ramada Plaza Hotel Ojibway
The Sault Ste. Marie Ramada Plaza Hotel Ojibway is th most historic and probably the best hotel on the US side of Sault Ste Marie, and certainly the nicest Ramada I have ever seen. After a night at a rough hotel in downtown Duluth, I decided to splurge a little and spend some extra money for a nicer place to sleep.
We arrived a little after dark, and parked in the back of the big but busy parking lot. We checked in and found our room which had a view over the locks and into Canada. After getting a few beers at the Captain's Pub downstairs, we moved our bags into the room, freshened up a little, and decided on the Captain's Pub for dinner as well. The room was nice; besides the view, it was nicely furnished, clean, and modern (with wi-fi!).
The hotel was built in 1927 and sits in the town's historic district right beside the locks.
In the off season, rooms start as low as $100, but I'm sure they are a little more expensive in the summer.
