Recommend the Cherry Tree Inn

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Traverse City, staying 4 nights at the Cherry Tree Inn and Suites. The property is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. We had a king room which included a small refrigerator and microwave, extra sink in the kitchenette area, and TV and phone in the bathroom. The room was spacious, and nicely decorated. It had wireless internet, but we had problems getting that to work in the room consistently. We did get it to work elsewhere on the property. The weather was cool when we were there, but the beach looked fine. The pool and hot tub were always in use.
The breakfast was great! They had about everything you could think of in a "continental" breakfast: toast, bagels, mini muffins, spice cake, mixed fresh fruit (it was delicious), bananas, serveral kinds of cold cereal, choice of flavors of instant oatmeal, juices, hard-boiled eggs, and various flavors of yogurt. The breakfast room got very crowded, but you could also eat outside (as I said, it was cool while we were there, so it was chilly outside).
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to assist us in answering any question that we had.
We Loved the Cherry Tree

We stayed one night at the Cherry Tree Inn in Traverse City on our way home - after spending one night at the beginning of the trip at the Bayshore Resort. Our experience at the Cherry Tree was excellent. The price was half what we paid at the Bayshore, four days earlier, and the rooms were comparable. When we were looking for a hotel, because we would not stay at the Bayshore again, one of the locals recommended the Cherry Tree Inn....it was a good tip! The staff was much friendlier and more accommodating at Cherry Tree. We got a standard room, but told them we wanted to be sure that our room had chairs so that we could read - the young man at the desk put us in Room 220 which was next to the very private lounge on that floor! We had a balcony with large windows - the room was very clean and a good size - and they even provided a "make up remover" towelette - the first I have seen that - and I am a world traveler! You can't beat this property for the price, cleanliness, beach, etc.
Wonderful stay

Just returned from a first time visit to Traverse City, and my fiance' and I stayed at the Cherry Tree Inn on the Beach from 5/19 - 5/21. We stayed in one of their suites on the first floor, which had a walkout directly to the beach. The view from our suite was absolutely gorgeous! The hotel is on the Grand Traverse Bay, and the views are beautiful. The inn is very clean, and, in the suites, there are three tvs (bedroom, living room and bathroom), dvd player, kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. I was very impressed, because the room rate was extremely reasonable. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. Overall, great experience. I would go back, and would definitely recommend the Cherry Tree Inn and Suites.
loved it, great location

just got back today from our trip at Cherry Tree Inn. We had a room on the lake and sat out on our balcony every night and watched the sun set. Getting a lakefront room is definitely worth it. The hotel is in a great location for this very busy city. Having a refrigerator and microwave in the room is also nice. When we return to Traverse City, we will be staying here.

My husband booked a room for us at the Cherry Tree Inn for my Birthday. It was a very clean, friendly hotel. The desk staff went out of their way making be feel special on my birthday. We were very happy with our room. The hotel sits on a small sandy beach with free lounge chairs. There is also boat rentals and jet skis available right outside the hotel. The free breakfast in the morning was tasty. They also offer on the weekend free wine, beer, and water between 3-6:00. We would highly recommend this hotel and would love to return.
Romantic Getaway

I reserved this hotel for my boyfriends birthday. I got a suite in the new extension of this hotel and we were both astonished as soon as we walked in. There was a whirlpool in our bedroom, a very large beautiful bathroom with a large counter (he had his side and I had mine!) and shower. Our bedroom included a safe and large television. Our living area included a kitchen with microwave, cupboards, refrigerator, counterspace, coffee maker, table, cupboards, couch, television and more. We had a large balcony with two chairs. The lobby, pool and breakfast room was very nice and a comfortable feel. In the lobby there was a big book of local restaurants menus, which came in handy when we did not know where to go to dinner! There was a bulletin board with local events, attractions, and even local movie times. There is a private beach with chairs already there. This was an extremely romantic trip! We were both very relaxed and refreshed. It was so hard to go home! The area is great too. There's city life just down the street, but you also have the country side with all of the vineyards, and the bay with many more attractions. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the traverse area!
Had A Good Stay

Stayed for 2 nights. Little bit more expensive, but wanted to try something different from staying at the chain hotels.
Found hotel very clean and quiet. Beds firm but comfortable. WiFi worked fine. Nice to have fridge and microwave in room. Good selection of TV channels. TV in the bathroom was a first.........
Breakfast was fine, dining room can get crowded at peak times.
Pool and hot tub is centrally located off of the lobby, flanked by breakfast room, enclosed in glass. Didn't use pool, but could see how people may want not to use the pool if you know that fact that every single person walking throught the lobby can see the pool as they walk by...or if you use the pool from 7a-10a, all eating breakfast is watching you swim...maybe a non-issue for most, but thought I'd mention it.
Only beefs...shower water pressure very disappointing and all exercise equipment was broken (treadmill belt slipped constantly, elliptical machine display broken and not working.)
There is a great paved walking/bike trail just across the street behind the Walgreens that goes downtown that I was able to use instead of the exercise room.
Wonderful place.... Beautiful rooms & views!

We got the recommendation from a family member to stay here for our anniversary and we loved it!! The manager upgraded us to the best of the best... king size bed, fireplace, jacuzzi and a balcony facing Grand Traverse Bay. What a wonderful room! It was spaceous and comfortable, we loved that we had room to walk around and relax in our room with the amenities of a home away from home. It was chilly outside, so the fireplace & jacuzzi were a nice treat and the big comfortable robes that were provided were wonderful! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They provided a continental breakfast with a variety to chose from. Also, a big plus... non-smoking throughout the inn. There was an indoor pool also. Very nice & yes.. I definitely recommend it!
Think Twice...

We witnessed a very heated scene between the desk staff, the hotel owner and a customer.
The staff was not honoring a $25 discount that the customer had received. The customer had proof and a confirmation number, yet they still refused to honor it.
The customer remained calm, but firm in their claim,It was embarrassing to watch the staff and hotel owner act in such an unprofessional manner. The police at one point had to be called in and calm the manger down.
If you care about "spotless hallways", by all means, stay here.... but if you want to be treated with dignity and respect by the staff, my suggestion would be to find another hotel.
PS: They didn't honor our AA discount either...

We found ths hotel once we got into Traverse City. They had a basic room with 2 queen beds. However, even though it was "basic"...it was a VERY nice room!! The staff was VERY friendly. They have a private beach that is really nice. we watched the sun set there....I will never forget it!
My 1 and only complaint is that they didnt have enough vending machines....other than that, they get 5 stars in my book! :o)
