Things to do?
Wondering if anyone has any info as to wheather there is much to do around Bloomington,MN besides the Mall of America. Also any information on the driving conditions in that area would be greatly appreciated.
RE: Things to do?
Not far from Bloomington are lakes Harriet and Calhoun (part of the 'Chain of Lakes').
You can get a decent look of the city and also good excersise while walking/jogging around the paths. If you wish, there are a few places that rent canoes and you can paddle up and down several of the lakes since they are connected.
RE: Things to do?
In all honesty, not much. Bloomington is just a really big suburb. The Minnesota River area is a wildlife refuge, it can be quite nice. Depends on what time of year you are here. 494 can be a breeze or a jumbled mess. It's a hit of miss. The Cedar Ave. Freeway (by the mall) usually flows really nicely. I-35 is ok to go into Dakota Co., but if you are trying to get Downtown it's not great. Crosstown Commons (62nd St) makes you take a 90* turn on a freeway. Even worse if there's a Twins or Vikings Game. Cedar, Lyndale, and Nicollet avenues are all good side streets to take if the freeways are bad.
