More about A.G. Thomson House: Historic Bed and Breakfast

Classy and fun-

by TripAdvisor Member tripticker

Was able to get reservations for a Sat & Sun night at high season in Duluth. Beautiful 3 story 100 year old mansion, immacuately maintained and up dated. Breakfast to die for served at 9am. Don't be late. Chablis on the veranda at 5pm with inkeepers was a hoot. Couldn't hardly to get wife to go to dinner. Will return.

Something for Everyone

We have stayed at Bed and Breakfasts for many years and have quite a few experiences to compare this Inn to.

This beautiful Inn was outstanding and far supassed the others we have stayed at.

The Innkeepers go over and above in providing excellent service and are gracious and wonderful Hosts!

The rooms are inviting and comfortable, the breakfasts are a culinary delight and Angie and Tim are not only knowlegable about the area, but can recommmend dinner reservations for you or provide "romance packages" for that special person in your life.

We had an outstanding time and we were sad to leave.

One of the most notable things I will remember, was arriving at the A.G. Thomson house and the Innkeepers greeting us immediately at our car! What a nice first impression!

We highly recommend the A.G.Thomson Bed and Breakfast Inn for anyone looking for beautiful accomadations, wonderful breakfasts, excellent amenities and gracious hosts!!

We will be back!

A perfect Bed and Breakfast at an unbeatable price

Staying at the AG Thompson house was luxurious, surprisingly affordable, and a really great experience. Angie and Tim, the inn keepers, made us feel quite at home in the well kept early 20th century mansion. We began our stay with them with a glass of wine, a grand tour complete with history, and advice on places to go in the area, and ended our time there with an unbelievable breakfast that was fit for royalty. Our room was beautifully decorated, complete with a whirlpool, and the bed couldn't be more comfortable. I highly recommend staying here, and look forward to future visits.

Best Breakfast Ever!

by TripAdvisor Member AdamAndJuliAnn

We had never tried a B&B before, but everything else was booked, so we took a chance. We were so impressed with the A.G. Thompson House that we've been telling all of our friends to stay there whenever they go to Duluth. We loved the room--it was comfortable, quiet, luxurious, and romantic. The owners were very pleasant and made us feel welcome and relaxed. The best part was breakfast!! We had felt a little nervous about having breakfast with strangers, but soon we were all having the best morning conversations and laughing. The food was better than anything and We can't believe we left without the recipes-- Oh well, we'll just have to ask next time, because we will definitely be back soon!!

Welcoming & Comfortable

by TripAdvisor Member PillHillers

Upon arrival we were promptly met in the secure off street parking area by our hostess, Angie. She and her husband, Tim, are the most personable, likable hosts of any B&B we've stayed in. Our spacious room had a lovely large balcony, gas fireplace, separate closet and bathroom. The windows were large with a lovely view. Everything was spotless and the linens were high quality. In spite of all guest rooms being full and no hired staff, Tim & Angie were relaxed and met everyone's needs perfectly.

The large living room, sun room, dining room, and flower-filled patio were attractive, comfortable and clean spots for relaxing, reading, conversing, and enjoying evening wine. The breakfast menu and conversation were delightful. The convenient location in a gorgeous neighborhood was quiet and restful. We have stayed in many B&B's including two others in Duluth. This is one we will definitely come back to!

A marvelous B&B experience !

by TripAdvisor Member MinnesotaTraveldiva

Last year my husband and I stayed at the Thomson House and enjoyed the setting--our suite, the beautiful common areas and furnishings, the flowers and grounds. This year we returned for more of same, but found a new attention to detail and new owners who did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. Each morning there were lively conversations with interesting travellers over sinfully good breakfasts. We had such a great experience we even signed on for a third night! Kudos, Angie and Tim.

Complete rest and relaxation

by TripAdvisor Member duchessNashville

This gracious Victorian mansion offers impeccable well- appointed and decorated guest suites and common lounging areas. The decor is restful and elegant. I especially recommend the tranquil sun porch for early a.m. coffee and reading- with the peaceful sound of breeze through the fir trees while awaiting the absolutely scrumptious breakfast! Unless you have your own reading to bring, save room in your luggage and partake of the awesome variety of books, periodicals and newspapers available. The books and periodicals highlighting Duluth and Minnesota especially will appeal to first-time visitors to this great state. The setting on a quiet end street is especially restful. A great view of Lake Superior down the hill is a bonus! Napping in the hammocks under more whispering pine trees was especially appreciated! Tim and Angie are excellent hosts- from the initial greeting in the back parking area on through the grounds and into the mansion, their warmth and lively and gracious conversation was an especially welcoming aspect of a truly wonderful weekend my mother, sister and I enjoyed on our annual B&B holiday. This was such a superb experience, it was difficult to leave the house to explore the city! Yet, with all Duluth and the North Shore has to offer- basically a cool refreshing inland 'ocean' setting, make sure you experience whatever you have energy for and know that on your return to the A.G Thomson house, you will appreciate such a marvelous setting in which to rest and recover until your next adventure!

The Perfect, Relaxing Get-Away!

by TripAdvisor Member horses55363

Our 2nd annual Mother-Daughters B & B week-end was extraordinary! Tim & Angie Allen were delightful hosts, attending to every detail one could want at a B & B. The A.G.Thompson House is beautiful - each common room offers it's own tranquility and the grounds are so lovely with all the flowers and well manicured lawns! And of course - the breakfasts were wonderful!
We will look forward to returning to this exquisite place and marvelous city on the shores of Lake Superior!

Romantic

We absolutely loved our stay at A.G. Thomson House. We had the North Shore Retreat room, which was small, but simple, classy, and cozy. The main house was beautiful. The living room was nice, but our favorite was a small sun room with a comfortable couch. We enjoyed our quality time with the complimentary wine (which was good!) there. Breakfast was to die for... can't forget the taste of French toasts and scone!! But above all, the inn keepers Tim & Angie made us feel welcome and very comfortable. We'll definitely come back here again in our next trip to Duluth.
