Best Western Downtown Motel
Truly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. For the first time in hundreds of nights in hotels, I seriously considered asking for my money back and finding a new place to live. It started off bad, when we saw just how dreadful and dead downtown Duluth really is. The hotel exterior looks to be about 50 years old with no elevators and an old crumbling parking lot on a hill side. Then we drug our bags up to our room and the hallway smelled moldy and musty and there was unrepaired water damage on the walls and floor, with sheets of wallpaper peeling away.
Finally we made it to our room. It was small and outdated, but at least it was clean, and it didn't have the strong musty odor prevalent in the hallway. The bathtub fixtures were a little moldy, but it didn't look like too big of a health hazard for one night. So the room being just below average swayed my opinion after the rest of the hotel was far, far below average.
We paid about $60 for this room, but next time I would gladly pay $100 or more for a place along the water.
