Looking for a great place to getaway and explore the great outdoors with your friends or your family? Try this place. The new East Bay Suites. Really friendly staff. Huge rooms (condos) furnished in clean contempory "IKEA-like" style with spectacular lake views, fireplaces, stainless steel kitchens, flat screen televisions, soaking tubs, washer/dryers and and community room where our kids watched "Ice Age" on a big screen suround sound movie screen (they had popcorn too!). I thought we'd miss an on-site pool, but trust me, the stone skipping 40 ft out our door-easy walks on the beach, around town and to artist's point and GREAT room, more than made up for it. The staff gave us coupons to use the municipal pool--which worked out great. Staff also took us and another family up the Gunflint Trail in their cute little blue bus for a great dinner at Trail Center. We saw MOOSE on the way up AND on the way home from the restauraunt. Staffperson Betsy recommeded a reading for the kids (I liked it too) by "the Muffin Man" (that's what they call this funny guy who is great with kids) at the bookstore "Drury Lane" across the street from the hotel. My only complaint? That we could not stay longer than the 3 nights---
Unique Quality: Views! Contemporary decor. Concrete floors and countertops (neat). Aveda amenities-ample towels. Bus to bring you places once you are there. Japanese soaking tub in one of the Suites.
