people, and language

Alright, NO ONE says "ya you betch" that is a NOT true lol. You're more likely to hear, "sweet" or in the college community "tight" and the ever popular "cool" If someone says anything close to "Ya" it will be "yep" or "sure" and there is NO accent. Uggg! Having traveled myself I have been told FIRST HAND, that I do NOT have an accent. I have been told I speak faster than most, but NO accent.
Ok lol one of the best things to see is obviously MOA *Mall Of America to non locals* The Quest, formerly owned by Prince, First Av, another awesome club. Otherwise..just wander, that's the most fun thing to do. The Quest, The Quest and The Quest, it is my favorite club. Have seen, Stereofuse, Pay The Girl, Von Ray, Alter Bridge, and will be seeing Alter Bridge AGAIN there soon.
Architecture: Marquette Plaza
by yooperprof
Formerly the Federal Reserve Building, now a general office building, Marquette Plaza is a clean well-designed glass-framed tall-building - not really a sky-scraper, but tall all the same. Its glass panels are especially interesting the late afternoon when they reflect the setting sun. Designed by local architect Gunnar Birkets (1973).
Trading Commodities at the Grain Exchange
by zrim
Minneapolis is historically a mill town. To this day huge grain elevators are part of the urban landscape. One interesting byproduct of the business of agriculture is futures. Each business day, futures traders come to the floor of the grain exchange to speculate on August soybeans and November wheat. It is a serious game. Some traders amass fortunes and others fare not so well. Whether any of this helps the small independent farmer is a uncertain. However, any time there are commodities that are uncertain due to weather and other intangibles, then the gamblers of society will congregate to place their wagers. They do it under the guise of business--but how is it different than Vegas?
Packing List

It all depends on the season. Summer it gets between 80 and 95 degrees. We have very humid summers. Fall it gets breezy. Long pants and a light long sleeve shirt for the day and a light jacket for the evening. Winter you need the works. Warms clothes, gloves, boots..etc. Spring is pretty much like Fall but, a bit warmer. We can get some warm weather in the Spring and it can get cold. I would check the weather before visiting MN. Camping and Outdoor Gear would be great if you are planning to do such a thing. We have beaches nothing like the carribean of course.
Harris City Jail

A great picnic stop! We stopped off the road for our picnic lunch and found a park containing the Harris City Jail -- it amounts to a small shed with bars on the windows! A commemorative plaque is posted.
