Mall of America Nightclub

by kjyang

Do you know the price range of their night clubs? I'd appreciate a response. Thank you.

RE: Mall of America Nightclub

by lkdahl

There are no nightclubs in the Mall of America at this time. A few years ago they had a sports bar, piano bar, a couple of dance clubs and a country/western nightclub on the 4th floor of the mall. There's still a Hooters up there but not sure what there using the vacated spots for now.

For nightclubs, your best bet will be to head down to downtown Minneapolis. Best way to get there from the Mall of America is by light rail. Nightclubs charge a cover of anywhere from free to $10 and drinks average about $5 and up.

Travel Tips for Minneapolis

Architecture: Central Public Library

by yooperprof

Another of the 21st century "grands projects" of the Little Apple, Cesar Pelli's Central Public Library was unveiled to mixed reviews in 2006. On the plus side, this $166 million stucture has a reduced impact on the environment, through the latest "green" energy-saving technologies. And on the inside there are several pleasant and inviting spaces to curl up with a book or magazine. On the negative side (at least from my own POV), the exterior of the building is somewhat clunky - it looks as if dingy curtains are hanging from its windows! Moreover, it's hard to find the entrances, and the 5 story atrium inside reminded me of the central gallery in a contemporary prison.

Downtown

by acemj

The skyline of Minneapolis is somewhat eclectic with varying architectural styles. When I was here as a kid, it was basically just the IDS Center, but as you can see, things have changed. There is an active nightlife scene downtown as well as some great shopping and theaters. Because of the cold weather, there are skywalks connecting all of the buildings so that you don't have to walk outside at all.

Hockey land

by acemj

This is why they play hockey so well in Minnesota!

Hockey is truly an obsession around here. The state high school hockey tournament always is a sellout and is televised on national TV. Some people think of Minnesota as Canada-South because of our love for the sport.

Running Races-Stay in shape while yo see the city

by lkdahl

All throughout the year there are races held from 5K to full marathons around the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. This is a great way to see neighborhoods and in the meanwhile you can stay in shape.

Some of the more popular races are The Grand Old Day 5K & 8K, Aquatennial Torchlight 5K, James Page Blubber Run 5K, and the Twin Cities Marathon to name a few. Theres even a 5K in January appropriately called the Frigid 5K, that is run whatever the weather conditions.

If you choose to run in winter dress appropriately. Usually people dress too warm for the winter runs and have to shed the layers they put on. Remember once you start running, your body creates alot of heat. Dress like the temperature is 20 degrees F warmer than it actually is. Running shoes and athletic wear.

Nordeast

by lkdahl

Nordeast lies across the Mississippi river from downtown Minneapolis. The Riverplace area directly accross the Hennepin bridge is the more glitzy and commericialized zone, with yuppie condos, bars and resaurants. Further in you will find the true Nord-East, everyday normal type bars and restaurants.

Nordeast was in the past a very blue collar area, but recently is attracting the young and artistic crowd that usually moved to Uptown. The Uptown area has changed from the artsy, youthfull, punkish area it was in the 80's and early 90's, to become overcommecialized and overpriced.

Head down Marshall St. and stop in at Tony Jarros for there famous "Greenie" drink. Or step across the street to Psycho Suzi's, have a drink and see the lastest in tatoos and body piercings on patrons and staff alike.

Try Mayslacks on 4th St. NE to see a good rock show then head down the road and enjoy a drink at Grumpy's. If you are adventureous goto Ground Zero on NE 4th St. on "Bondage a-go-go" night. It's an eye opener.

Whatever your taste you can find the perfect bar to hang out at in Nordeast.
