Rich name poor rooms & service

This would be our first stay in a "real" Marriott hotel, just to see how this would be. The price was higher then the usuall Marriott chains like Courtyard, Fairfield, Residence inn and so on. But we expected a great experience in exchange for that money.

We arrived at the hotel and it looked promising, the lobby made the first impression even better. Ok it was strange that no help what so ever was offered with our luggage and nothing about how to use our honeymoon package we had booked....

Up to our room.....

Unique Quality: Our first impression of the room was that it looked very basic (the called it a deluxe room on our reservation). If we talked it sounded a bit hollow, the carpet near the bathroom was clearly in a bad shape from the water that had been on here over the years.

Chairs where faded by the sun, furniture was chipped probably by suitcases or cleaning the room.

All in all the room wasn't what we expected so we asked if we could change to another room because we didn't like the state it was in.... That wasn't possible, but we could pay extra and get a better room...we didn't want that we just wanted another simular room that was in a better shape as this one....

Sorry we where told...can't do that....back in our room we called Marriott reservations explaining the situation and asked if they had another hotel...they did...

It also costed more but was in the heart of Minneapolis and away from this hotel...we accepted that. They cancelled the room we where in now for us and we left...

Brought the keys to the lady that "helped" us before and told here we where leaving because we weren't satisfied..she then worried if the room was still clean and i told here that it was (we there only 30 minutes or so) and gave here the cancellation number..

Here head turned red and she said sorry twice, i told here that it was no help saying sorry and left...

We filled complaints when we got back home, but till now almost two months after the complaint no reaction what so ever.
