    Located in downtown Rochester, the Hilton Garden Inn is one of the more "classier" hotels in town. According to the Hilton website, there are 143 rooms in the hotel. The features in each room include high-speed internet access, ironing boards, hairdryers, and a workspace with a multi-line phone. My parents have stayed here many times while visiting us and they have always been very pleased with this hotel. The rooms are more spacious than most hotel rooms and the hotel also has some suites. The only complaint that they had was that you must pay for parking if you stay during the week. However...BIG HINT from a local...parking in Rochester's Public Ramps is FREE on the weekends and after 5pm on weekdays. You will have to walk to the hotel from the ramp, but many of them are also connected by the indoor skyway/subway system. Before paying $6.00 for parking at the hotel, investigate other free parking options downtown.

    Strangely enough, when checking the prices on their reservation system, I was told that I could get a room for $89 on a weekend night and $109 on a weeknight. Usually hotels charge more for the weekends, but not this one!

    Probably the most valuable feature of this hotel is that it is connected to downtown Rochester's skyway and subway system. If you need to get to restaurants, stores or Mayo Clinic, you never need to step outside! The restaurants nearby are: Red Lobster, Wong's Chinese Cafe, Jasper's Alsatian Restaurant, Quizno's, Subway, TCBY, Sbarro Pizza. Shops near the hotel are: Chico's, Talbots, Games by James, Barnes and Noble, Hanny's Department Store and many little specialty shops.
