Stillwater is a quaint and peaceful town along the banks of the St. Croix River on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. More importantly, it is the birthplace of Minnesota. On August 26, 1848, the territory of Minnesota was ratified at a the Territorial Convention in Stillwater.
It's a great place for a day excursion from the hustle and bustle of the Twin Cities. You'll discover a lot of history, a charming Main Street and a great riverside location.
If you head outside of town, you'll find some excellent canoeing, hiking and photography opportunities in the St. Croix River Valley region.
