I was at this inn to dine many, many years ago and I always wanted to go back and stay. I finally went back recently and did just that. Because it is a very old inn, I wasn't sure what to expect.
I reserved the night before I went and the standard rooms were booked but I was given a deluxe room for less than the price of the standard. Nice surprise!
The hallways look like a hotel from way back when but are clean and well maintained.
Entering the room, it was smaller than expected (see pix on website) but the room itself was much nicer. On the web it looked a lot of gold and crystal but once inside the room, it wasn't like that at all - it was well decorated in period furnishings and balanced.
The inn is very quiet and heard virtually no external noise once inside the room.
There was a bit of bubbling/peeling paint in out of the way places but it didn't really take away from the room's charm.
Although not advertised on the web, the inn offers 24-hour coffee and tea and complimentary bags of ice in the second floor lounge. There is also a computer with internet access in that room. You may get hi-speed Internet connections for your laptop for a fee. Ask at the desk.
