Travel Tips for Walker

Packing List

by Weebo72

Pack for a two week stay at local lodging in any small or medium sized luggage as some lodging camps have some small lodges with not a lot of room (unless you are able to rent a larger lodge). Bring clothes to dress cool as it will be hot and bring UV blocking, polarized sunglasses and a good baseball cap from a retail store. For night Bass fishing bring a warm insulated windbreaker hooded jacket, and fall clothes as it gets cold at night on the lake. Bring lunch, water, sodas, and hand sanitizer lotion in the boat. No beer is allowed on this lake. Boat responsibly. Bring the strongest mosquito repellent, anti-itch cream for itches from things like mosquito bites, allegry medicine, aspirin, two week supply of any prescription medication, Neosporin, bandages, alocohol, hydrogen peroxide, bandaids, shampoo, hair dryer, comb, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, toilet paper, towels, washclothes, and a first aid kit. If your lodge has no power and you don't have a car adapter for your battery recharger bring a good photographer's type camera with at least 10x zoom with a flash module addon. Bring plenty of batteries because the scenery will take your breath away and so will all the fish you catch. The towel you bring you can also use for swimming but word of warning. The reason this lake is called Leech Lake is because leeches swim around in it. Leeches are the bait most commonly used to catch the fish of this lake. Bring SPF-15 skin cream or higher and enough food for two weeks. Bring meat to barbecue if you will have a grill at your lodge. Call way ahead to the lodge of your choice or of availability for reservations and what will be included with your lodging. This lake is very busy all of the warm months so call ahead.

You want to fish or ice fish a great spot? Check out Leeck Lake. Walker is a small town with shops for many souveniers of Minnesota and Christmas gifts all year long. Get to Walker from the local lodging camps by boat.
