Spengler's Corner and Harding Building
There are a number of old brick buildings that have been renovated in downtown Jackson, and perhaps the oldest is Spengler's Corner, which was built cerca 1842. The building has been used for a variety of purposes over the years, but has been in continuous use. Located across of the Old Capitol Building, this strip of commercial buildings are being renovated into dining establishments. Around the corner on Capitol Street are several other old buildings that are also be nicely renovated for some future commercial purpose. The most notable of these in the Harding Building (1892), which is built on a lot of historical significance as it was the site of the first statehouse of Mississippi.
