Italian style pastries and southern cakes
The food and ambiance of Broad Street (at I-55) is refined and casual, yet not overly sophisticated where do not feel out of place. The owner also runs a restaurant directly across Interstate 55 called Bravo.
They are generous with the serving of food, and service is good. Prices are a little higher than average. Management takes the concept of customer service VERY seriously, and WILL answer all customer concerns or complaints.
Free wireless Internet access is offered (if you have a laptop or PDA capable of utilizing a WiFi network). Parking sometimes can be a hassle on the weekends, and the bathrooms are often in need of cleaning. It’s a tossup as to what is their best food they offer. Between their cakes & pastries, or their sandwiches, it really depends if you have a sweet tooth or not.
One of their most popular cakes is their red velvet cake, layered and coated with an Oreo crème cheese icing ($2.95 a slice). Of their sandwiches I liked the best was their signature basil-pesto chicken salad ($7.95); unfortunately, the breast meat used is very dry.
