The hotel takes you back in time and allows a person to feel the elegance of a better era. This hotel renovation was done very good. The lobby and ceilings are a site to see. Rooms are on the small side, but it did not matter. We had a view of the back area and could see the river in the distance. Rooms are clean and modern enough to satisfy. The hotel opened in 1927 and stayed that way until finally closed in 1974 due to major repair and renovation needs. Under new ownership, it was redone and opened again in 1978 for $6 million. It operated until 1988, when a tornado wiped out a lot of Natchez, and caused $30 million damage to the hotel. Again rebuilt and brought back to the original stature, it is an elegant 7 story beauty again today.
Unique Quality: The early 1900'0s period is prevalent throughout and made me feel like stepping back in time.
