Isle of Capri Casino Motel: Wonderful Room and View

2006 update. I understand the Isle of Capri property in Vicksburg is now called "Diamond Jacks". I have no idea whether the management of the motel is still exemplary.

My wife and I stayed at the casino motel which of course adjoins the casino on the Mississippi River. We had a wonderful room with a terrific view of the river and the bridges to the south and a jacuzzi tub to boot! We'd stayed in a number of motels on this long three week trip (2004) but this was one of our favorites.

Price was very reasonable, less than $80.00. We'd definitely recommend this place.

We ate dinner at the buffet restaurant. It was without doubt the finest buffet either of us had eaten at. Shrimp, beef, crawfish, pasta...It was wonderful. And we met some very nice folks from Texas who were part owners of the place who were super friendly.

The Corners Bed and Breakfast: Stay at a B&B

This is one of the many old homes you will encounter in Vicksburg. Established in 1873, this bed and breakfast offers a great deal of southern charm as well as a ghost story. It is located not far from the Yazoo and Mississippi Rivers and is close to the heart of town. Besides touring the house with its southern decor, be sure to look at the garden in the back yard as well. Our room was nicely furnished and had a nice whirlpool inside.

If you are staying in Vicksburg, I highly recommend trying a bed and breakfast.

Notice the unusual columns on the outside of the house. These "Vicksburg columns" are viewed as a local style of architecture that originated in this city. Owners are very friendly.

Restored to its original condition, this historically registered 1830 Greek revival home has been turned into a Bed and Breakfast.

The home is decorated with beautiful period antiques. The rooms have private baths and a southern breakfast is provided. You can also take a tour through the home but by appointment only.
