Camping and Fishing Extraordinaire
"Roaring River State Park"
If you prefer your own bed whether it's in a tent or a camper, we'd recommend the campgrounds at Roaring River State Park. Only an hour from Branson, MO and 30 minutes to Eureka Springs,Arkansas which are both fun places to visit. It is best to make reservations online and well in advance. Fly fishermen love this place and although we don't fish we could see why. The hatchery keeps the fish coming and for the rest of us, the scenery, the hiking and the ambiance of the place satisfies the soul. Campground one was the most picturesque in our opinion and the quietest. It is close to the office and has a swimming pool and laundry. Campground two is closer to the fishing but has highway noise. Pull through campsites are available for those with motorhomes or who don't like to back a vehicle. Handicap sites are also available. Cell phones do NOT work here but pay phones are available.
"Best Shows in Branson"
We've never seen a bad show but The Baldknobbers has always been our favorite for pure Ozark type fun. For a high class show, Shoji Tabuchi can't be beat. We also enjoyed the Showboat dinner show this year.
"Eureka Springs Arkansas"
Not far from Branson, this town is worth checking out. It reminds me of Estes Park CO. Lots of quaint little stores and very picturesque. Darling Victorian homes throughout the historic district. The Cresent Hotel was interesting and worth visiting but I wouldn't want to stay there. The buffets are said to be good there. We enjoyed a quaint little Italian place downtown with very good Panini for lunch.
This town is said to be second only to Las Vegas for weddings.
