Backyard gardens at Old Elm Tree Inn by deecat While visiting Saint Charles, Missouri, Jill and I stayed at the lovely Bed and Breakfast called OLD ELM TREE INN which was named for the gigantic 170 year-old Elm tree in the garden-laden backyard. The 1904 home has been restored to its original Victorian, Queen Ann style, but it has all the modern conveniences. The owner and operator, Martha Kooyumjian, is a gracious hostess who happens to be an excellent cook.
There are three bedrooms on the second floor, all with private baths. Jill and I stayed in the largest of the rooms/suites called "The World's Fair Suite". We were impressed with the antiques within the room, especially the antique doll baby buggy. Our bathroom had a claw-footed tub/shower that was a whirlpool tub! The hallway upstairs has a long table that is filled with wonderful reading material and steaming-hot coffee and tea in the morning before the gormet breakfast. Our breakfast was Eggs Benedict, Bacon, fresh Pineapple slice with strawberry in the center, and a banana nut cake with real whipped cream. Of course, hot coffee or tea was also offered. I probably enjoyed the lovely backyard with it's shade gardens, fountains, pathways, and magnificent Elm tree the most. Hyatt Regency St. Louis at Union Station by deecat While in St. Louis, we stayed in the Hyatt Regency St. Louis, which is part of historic Union Station. It recently completed a seven million dollar renovation to its guestrooms and has won the AAA four Diamond Award. The hotel has 539 guest room and suites. You may stay in the Headhouse portion of the Union Station, which is traditional elegance or stay in the Garden Hotel portion which is tucked under the historic Train Shed. We stayed in the Garden portion. Although it is an expensive place to stay, we felt that it was every bit worth the expense.
There are executive suites, parlors, presidential suites, and garden rooms. We stayed in a Garden Room, which was furnished with two double beds, an electronic door lock, AM/FM alarm clock radio, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, 27" television with cable movie channels, in-room pay movies, 3 Dual-line telephones, data ports, voice mail, Coffee maker, and Daily newspaper. Our room was spacious and decorated with elegant furnishings and included a "full bath amenities" bathroom. When we first arrived, we noticed that the toilet kept running continuously, so we called and literally within minutes, a repairman came and fixed it. Great service! Clubhouse at StoneBridge Village by deecat StoneBridge Village is nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains about twelve miles from Branson, Missouri. StoneBridge Village is a private, gated community that is set in 3,200 pristine acres and surrounded by forests and fast-flowing creeks. It was written up in Where to Retire Magazineas one of "America's Best Master Planned Communities." Not all the people here are retired; many use the condos, Townhouses, or Homes as a vacation destination.
StoneBridge has private gates, a beautiful Golf Course, Outdoor Pool, Tennis Courts, Exercise Room, and a Restaurant. The Townhouse that we stayed in had a huge Whirlpool Tub, fireplace, full kitchen, in-house laundry, and a large balcony that overlooked the woods. It was beautifully decorated and had two large TV's, and a king-sized bed. We were more than pleased with the accomodations. It was twelve miles from the "hustle and bustle" of Branson, but close enough to make it convenient when we went to shows or out to eat...the best of both worlds.

Timber Creek Resort by deecat Timber Creek Resort is located among rolling, wooded hills; it has a 40-acre lake for fishing of catfish, bass, and bluegill. They offer boating along the shores. It's located about an hour south of Saint Louis; 20 miles south of Kimmswick; 25 miles north of Ste. Genevieve so it was the perfect location for our 8-day trip to Missouri. Timber Creek has a "rustic" look as you are able to see from the photograph. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom condo on the second floor of Building #2. There was a complete kitchen; therefore, we cooked and ate there four nights. It was clean, comfortable, and well equipped.
The resort was building a new outdoor swimming pool to replace a 30-year-old one. Because of the construction, the water was not working in the 18-hole Minature Golf area, which was also being renovated (and needed it badly). They had tennis courts, Volleyball courts, basketball courts, nature trails, two covered pavilions, horseshoes, badminton, shuffleboard, Fitness center, tanning beds, Indoor heated cedar sauna, and a big lake with canoes and john boats for fishing. There is a 5 hole real golf course (par 3) that I played one day. Jill walked with me. You have to carry your clubs. It was a cute course. The master bedroom had a whirlpool bath. The condo had a nice, large balcony with cedar table and chairs. We ate breakfast there one morning. The indoor furniture was rustic and appropriate. Hyatt Regency Crown Center by Bwana_Brown The meeting venue was at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, located in the downtown core of Kansas City. This 45 storey 500 foot high building was built in 1980 and still has a very impressive lobby with a nearby elevated area where I had my breakfasts. In fact, maybe they got a little too fancy with the architecture because, on July 17, 1981, two 180-foot interior skybridges collapsed due to the weight of people enjoying a function at the hotel. The result was 111 dead and 188 injured in one of the deadliest hotel disasters in American history. That being said, I found the services and room themselves to be first rate. The hotel has a full health club (free weights, exercise cycles, steppers, stair climbers and rowers), an all-weather pool, whirlpool & sauna as well as two lighted tennis courts. If the weather is not cooperating, there is a glass-enclosed walkway to the nearby Crown Center shopping complex as well as Union Station. Restaurant prices are not cheap and I paid US$119 per night (US$137 with taxes). Comfort Suites, Rolla, Missouri by deecat On the way to Arkansas, Allan and I stayed in Rolla, Missouri at the Comfort Suites. Allan and his buddies always stay here when on their way to fly fishing further south. So, we already knew that we would enjoy this hotel. It's nicely located but difficult to find because of a "trickey" turn. So be careful. Our room was a delight with a King-sized bed, no smoking, full-sized Desk, hair dryer, lazyboy chair, great 27" colored TV, free high speed internet access, and free morning newspaper. We espeically enjoyed the huge, soft, fluffy towels! The bed was firm and comfortable, just like home. This is an excellent moderat-priced hotel that we both highly recommend.
This hotel has 73 spacious rooms, really suites. Each suite has a Cordless telephone, a Dataport Connection on Suites Desk Phones, a refrigerator and microwave, and free local calls. The hotel has a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, real juices, toast, bagels, waffles that you make yourself, hot coffee and tea, and cold cereals. And, it's all FREE! When in Rolla, Missouri, be sure to stay at the Comfort Suites! Comfort Suites, St. Charles/St. Louis, Missouri by deecat PLEASE NOTE THAT PRICE IS PER PERSON! Photo is from brochure On the way back home from Arkansas in October of 2005, we drove from Bella Vista Village, Arkansas to St. Charles, Missouri and stayed in the Comfort Suites St. Charles/St. Louis, Missouri. What a marvelous choice on our part. It's location is just perfect...about 1/2 mile from the historic downtown and the Casino. We belong to the Choice Privileges program and the program for seniors so we paid $75.00 for a suite with two queen beds, a desk, sofa, refrigerator, and microwave in the main rooms and a large, well-equipped bathroom. In addition, there was a FREE Deluxe Continental Breakfast that serves eggs, sausage, waffles, cereals, fruit, and muffins along with juices and coffee.
This hotel had a lovely indoor pool and a guest Laundry. There was also a business room with computer, printer, fax, and scanner for guest's use. All you had to do was ask for the key to the room at the main desk. There was a nice fitness Center that was well equipped. In our room, there was a hair dryer, a coffee maker, and an iron and ironing board. The color TV provided hundreds of free stations, and mints were left on the bed each night. For a medium-priced hotel, the services and special features were excellent. by erikajj We decided on Blue Springs Ranch. I highly recommend this ranch. It is close to a couple of state parks, some caves, and the little town of Bourbon, Missouri. It is also relatively inexpensive and they have their own horses. There is a beautiful stream and the cabins are back in the trees where we saw a few deer. The cabin was relatively inexpensive and could sleep 6-8 people.
They have a campground, very comfortable cabins with kitchens and fireplaces, and lots of activities. Theme: CampgroundComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: near Bourbon, Missouri on the Meramec River in the Missouri Ozarks.Other Contact: http://www.meramecevents.com/bsr
